Patehted July 22,1913.
PATENT" OFFICE.
CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
PROTECTOR.
To all whom, it may concern Be it known that I, GRACE PFEIL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago,'in
the county of Cook and the State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in'Sanitary Protectors, of which the following is a speclfication.
I The object of this invention 18 to provide a sanitary protector for womens use that willtake the place of drawers and belt, com- I bined witha pocket and napkin, the protector being supported around the groins of the user, and having a detachable front sec; tion that can be folded back in order that the i shaped portion 3, is fastened the strip 4;
which is adapted to engage in the adjustable fastener 5, said fastener being loosely mounted on the belt 6, which is sewed to the portion of the protector that circles the waist, and has an elastic insert 7. The lower portion of 1 is lined with the rubberized piece 8, onto which is sewed the pocket portion, also of a rubberized material. This pocket portion is made up of an upper and lower piece 9 and 10, the upper piece 9 having a suitable elongated opening 11 for inserting absorbent cotton-or whatever mate-- rial necessary, upper piece -9 having two slots 12 and 13 parallel to the edge 14, which is loose from the lower member 10 at its central portion as is shown more clearly in Fig. 2 and at the opposite extremity ofthe pocket both theupper and lower pieces 9 and 10 are slotted as at 15, parallel to the slots 9 and 10.
Covering the pocket opening 11 isa napkin 16, which is made of a strip of double on 1 of the protector is of.
fabric having botlij ends narrowed, and
der the loose portion 14, through the slot 13, the other end being brought over the piece 9 and slipped through both slots 12 and 13. The two ends of the napkin 17 are then held together and inserted in the slot-.15, pulled 9 and 10 lying between the slot 15 and the edge, and tucked under the edge of slot 15, thus forming a suitable ,fastening as is clearly shownin Fig. 3.
It will be readily seen napkin become in any way saturated, the
I which would be also prevented from spreadingcand soiling the clothing by the rubber ized material of which the protector is made up.
Letters Patent is:
ing an elongated opening, a
the napkin,'and means by which the protecs tor may be adjusted to provide for the needs of the user. j
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
