To all whom t may concern.' y Be 1t known that I, AARON S. NICHOLS, a

citizen of the United States, residing in New York, in the county of New York and State of`Newvj York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Holders for Disk Records, of 'which the following is a speciication.

This invention relates to improvements in holders for disk records such as are used in phonographs or talkingmachines.

The object of the invention is to rovide a receptacle which 'is adapted to .old a number of such records which shall be inf expensive tol manufacture, neat in appearance, .compact and composed Offew parts and so designed that there will be do danger of mutilating. the surfaces of the records when the same are held in position.

In the drawing forming a part of this specification, Figure 1 is a front elevation of a structure embodying my improvements and Fig. 2 is a transverse, vertical section of the structure shown in Fig. 1.

In the' drawings .forming apart of this specification, A represents the case, the same having a bottom 10, back 11 and top 12 and open at its front end, The case is provided with a plurality of vertical partitions 13 arranged diagonally, Vas shownfin Fig. 2, said partitions being spaced apart substantially the thickness of a disk and located between each pair of the partitions 13, or in other words, in each disk space is a pivoted lever or key 14, the same being pivoted at its inner end on a rod 15 extending longitudinallyof the case, each of said levers or keys 14 having its outer end normallypressed upwardly by a spring 16, the same being preferably seated in a socket 17 in the bot-tom 10. The disks 18 are adapted to be supported on their rear edges by a block 19 extending longitudinally of the case, and provided with a sloping upper surface 20. Each of the keys or levers 14, if desired, may be provided with an indicating disk 2 1 on its outer end, the same being rovided with numerals corresponding to t e numbers of the' records. As shown in Fig.. 2 of the drawing, each 'of the disks 18 will be supported -and retained in position by means of the supporting member 19 and a lever 14, it being obvious that a portion of the lever 14 will engage the periphery of the disk at a point in front of and above the lowest point on the periphery of the disk. In dotted line in Fig. 2 is shown the position assumed by la key or-lever when the same is depressed, and as will be obvious, the disk 18 will roll down the inclined surface 20, due tothe force of gravity, and. down and over the lever 14 to a position in the front of the case, Where the same may be grasped by the fingers and removed from the case. As soon ast-he lever or key 14 is released after the disk has been removed, the same will return to normal position, and is preferably limited in its upward move ment by a projection 22 extending along the front edge of the supporting block or member 19.

I have shown and described one form of construction embodying my improvements, but as will be obvious, various changes and modications may be made in the details of construction of the same Without departing from the spirit of the invention, and all such changes and variations are v,contemplated as fall within the scope of the claim appended hereto.

I claim A holder for record disks comprising in combination, a suitable case having vertical partitions dividing it into individual disk spaces, means for supporting and retaining 'the 'disks in place and above the bottom of the case comprising a plurality of pivoted levers, one in each disk space, each of said leversbeing pivoted at its inner end and having a portion adapted to engage a disk at a point on the periphery in front of and above the lowest point thereof to retain the of gravity, and springs for each of 'said levers normally urging the outer ends upwardly, each of said evers being adapted action ofthe spring, and thereby to allow the disk to roll out y gravity, substantially disk in place in the case against the f orce 1 10o to have its outer end depressed vagainst. the
