BYRON BRADY AND SELDON BRADY, OF DUNMORE, PENNSYLVANIA.
MEMBERSHIP-RECORD.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that we, BYRON BRADY and SELDON BRADY, citizens of the United States, residing at Dunmore, in the county of Lackawanna, State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Membership-Record, of which the following is a specification.
The device forming the subject matter of this application is a cabinet adapted to contain the record of members of a lodge.
One object of the invention is to provide a device of this type, from which the record holders may be removed readily.
It is within the scope of the invention to improve generally and to enhance the utility of, devices of that type to which the present invention appertains.
lVith the above and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of invention herein disclosed may be made within the scope of what is claimed without departing from the spirit of the invention.
In the drawing: Figure 1 shows the invention in front elevation; Fig. 2 is a vertical transverse section; Fig. 3 is a perspective of one of the record holders; and Fig. 4: is a longitudinal section of one of the record holders.
In carrying out the invention there is provided a case 1 comprising a front wall. 2, a rear wall 3, a single end wall 4t, and a top 5 the case 1 being open at one end. Horizontally disposed guides 6 are secured in spaced relation to the inner surface of the front wall 2. There are no guides upon the inner surface of the rear wall 3. The top 5 of the case 1 slants downwardly and forwardly, and secured to the top 5 is a frame 7 which extends around three sides of the case. The forward side of the frame 7 is closed by a strip 8, held in place by screws 9. The frame 7 and the closure strip 8 are recessed to receive the periphery of a transparent plate 10. Guides 11 are secured to the top 5 and extend from the front of the case toward the rear thereof, below the transparent plate 10. These guides 11 are adapted to receive cards F--L-T, upon which cards may be inscribed data relative to the general condition of the lodge. The rear ends of the guides 11 are spaced apart Specification of Letters Patent.

from the rear portion of the frame 7, so as to permit the insertion of a single card 24, extended from one end of the case to the other in a continuous length, this card 24 being adapted to be inscribed with the name and number of the lodge.
The case 1 is adapted to receive a plurality of holders 12, one of the holders being shown in detail in Fig. 3. Each holder 12 preferably comprises a plate having upon its forward edge and at one end, an indexing character 1%. When the holder 12 is pushed into the case to the full extent, the indexing character 14 will be visible, as clearly shown in Fig. 1. Secured to the forward edge of the holder 12 is a longitudinal rib 15. This rib 15, at one end, as shown at 16, is terminated short of the end of the holder, so as to disclose the index character 14. Each indexing character 14 upon a holder 12 is alined horizontally with an indexing character 17 imprinted upon or secured to the front wall 2 of the case, to the end that the holders 12 may be replaced in their proper positions.
The forward edges of the holders 12 repre sented by the longitudinal ribs 15 are received between the guides 6. The holders 12 slant upwardly and rearwardly, and their rear edges rest against the rear wall 3. Owing to the fact that the holders 12 slant upwardly and rearwardly, the upper faces of the holders will be visible from the front of the case when the holders are partially withdrawn from the case. Further, this upwardly slant of the holders renders unnecessary, any guides upon the rear Wall '3, the rear edges of the holders being prevented from swinging downwardly. Any one holder, however, may be lifted upwardly, and as a consequence, any one holder may be raised, to permit the finger of the operator to come into contact with the next lower holder, for the purpose of withdrawing the same. The forward edge of the rib 15 is beveled as indicated at 18 and the rear edge of the holder 12 is beveled as indicated at 19, to correspond with the upward and rearward slant of the holder. One end of the holder 12 designated by the numeral 20 constitutes a hand grip, whereby the holder may be withdrawn from the case. Secured to the upper face of each holder 12 are transverse ribs 21 which abut against the longitudinal rib 15. The ribs 21 are undercut as indicated at 22 to receive cards 23, the rib 15 constituting an abutment for the cards to prevent the same from sliding out of engagement with the ribs 21. Atthis point it may oe stated that the guides 11 hereinbetore described, are undercut as indicated at in connection with the ribs 21. T he cards 23 each are inscribed with the name of some one member of the lodge together with other necessary data. The cards 2 are arranged alphabetically upon the several holders l2 and the indexing characters let serve to show what cards are upon each holder.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed is A device of the class described including a case having a front wall and a rear wall; record holders disposed between the walls, there being guides on the front wall only, receiving the front edge of each holder, the holders being upwardly and rearwardly inclined, thereby to expose their upper faces and to permit the rear edges of the holders to rest upon the rear wall against downward movement. the rear edge of each holder being littable with one guide as a fulcrum to per init the fingers of the operator to grasp the next lower holder for removal.
In testimony that we claim the foregoing as our own. we have hereto atlixed our signatures in the presence of two witnesses.
