Description

L. J. KORTBR.
GAME CARRIER.
APPLICATION FILED 13160.11, 1912 1,06%91? Patented June 17,1913.
LJorTe? LOUIS J. KORTER, OF PORT TOWNSEND, WASHINGTON.
GAME-GARR/IER.
Application filed December 11, 1912.
To (ZZZ whomir' may concern Be it known that I, LOUIS J. Koivrnn, a citizen of the United States, residing at Port Townsend, in the county of Jefferson and State of lVashington, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Game-Carriers, of which the following is specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.
This invention, relates to new improvements in game carriers and more particularly to a device of this character constructed of wire or other similar material, the object of the invention being to provide a neat, strong and compact device which is adapted to the carrying of game birds of various kinds and is so constructed that a large number of birds can be easily carried by the hand or suspended from the belt.
Aiwther object of the invention is to provide a game carrier of this character which will possess advantages in points of efliciency and durability, is inexpensive to manufacture and at the same time is simple in construction and operation.
\Vith the above and other objects in view, the invention consists in the novel features of construction and the combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described, pointed out in the claims and shown in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is an elevation of a game carrier constructed in accordance with my invention. Fig. 2 is a similar view showing the device in its closed position.
in carrying out my invention, .l form the device of two secti ms l and 9.. The section 2 is formed of a single length of wire bent at its intermediate portion to form two spaced parallel arms 3 and the intermediate portion of said wire is bent to form an open loop l. The ends of the spaced parallel portions 3 are looped to form the eyes 5.
Thesection 1 is formed of a single length of wire bent upon itself at its intermediate portion and the parallel portions thereof are bent to extend in opposite directions and form the loop or finger hold 6. The parallel portions are then bowed in opposite directions to form the open loop 7, and the ends of the wire arranged in spaced parallel relation as shown at 8. The extreme ends of said wire are bent upon themselves to form suitable hook members 9 adapted to engage and useful Specification ofLetters Patent.

with the eyes so that the sections 1 and 2 may be pivotally connected together.
A. book member 11 is provided, one end of which is bent upon itself to form an eye 12 and is slidably mounted upon one of the side portions of the section 8. The other end of the member 11 is bent to form a hook 13 adapted to engage the other of the side portions of the section 8 to retain the side portions thereof in close relation, the resiliency of the wire of which said sections are constructed being of such as to expand when the hook member is released to the position shown in Fig, 2.
in stringing game birds upon my improved carrier, the head of the bird is in serted through the open loop 7 and the neck of the bird is passed dowrm'ardly between the parallel. portions 3 until the same reaches the loop 4, the first bird strung upon the carrier being disposed within this loop. After the birds have been strung upon the carrier, the hook portion 12 of the member 11 is engaged with the opposite side portion of the section 8 to prevent the removal of the heads of the birds between the parallel portions 3. In this manner it will be seen that any number of game birds may be easily strung upon the carrier and the carrier may be easily carried by the hand or suspended from the belt.
When the device is not in use, the same is to be folded up in the position shown in Fig. 2, so that it may be easily carried in the pocket or other small space.
It will be readily apparent from the above that l have provided a simple, durable and strong device which is especially adapted for use by hunters, but may be readily used in market places for suspending chickens or other game birds for display.
lVhile l have shown and described the preferred form of my invention, it will be obvious that various changes in the details of construction and in the proportions may be resorted to for successfully carrying my invention into practice without sacrificing any of the novel features or departing from the scope of the appended claim.
Vvhat I claim is in a device of the character described, the combination of a single length of wire bent at its intermediate portion to form two spaced parallel portions, a second length of wire bent to form a finger loop and then bent to form an open loop arranged adjathe other parallel portion to retain the de- 10' V106 1n a closed position.
In testimony whereof I hereunto my signature in the presence of two Witnesses.
LOUIS J. KORTER.
cent the finger loop, the ends of said second Wire being disposed in spaced parallel relation and the extreme ends pivotally conneoted with the ends of the first Wire, a hook member having one end bent to form an eye and pivotally mounted upon one of the parallel portions of the second Wire and the other end of said hook member being bent to form a hook adapted to engage with lVitnesses G. W. TRENHOLM, H. L. SIMONDS.
Copies of this patent may be obtained for five cents each, by addressing the Gommissioner of Patents, Washington, D. C.
