OIL-BURNER.
To all whom it may concern.'
Be it known that I, Josnrn l1. Pinon, a citizen of the United States, residing at Cleveland, in the county of Liberty and State of Texas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in (,)il-Burners, of which the following is a specification, retBw erence being had therein to the accompanying drawing.
This invention relates to oil burners and has for its object the production of a simple and ellicient oil burner whereby the oil may be quickly gasiiied, and well distributed throughout the entire length of the burner.
Another object of this invention is the production of a simple and ellicient burner mechanism, wherein the burner pipe will be suspended in an etlicient manner below the vaporizing chamber.
With these and other objects in view this invention consists of certain novel construc tions, combinations, and ar angen'lents of parts, as will be fully described and' claimed.
ln the drawings, Figure 1 a perspective view of the burner. Fig. 2 is a side elevation thereof showing the burner pipe in section. Fig, 3 is a horizontal section thereof. Fig. 4t is a longitudinal section of the vaporizing chamber. Fig. 5 a transverse section of the yvaporizing chamber showing the manner of supporting the burner pipe below the same. Fig. (i is an embodiment of the present invention wherein the vaporizing chamber is molded in one piece.
Referring to the drawings by numerals 1 designates the vaporizing chamber which may be either made of two sections as illustrated in Figs. 1 to 5 inclusive or made in one piece as disclosed in Fi G. This vaporizing chamber comprises a pair of parallel channels 2 and 2', which communicate at their inner end as at 3. The vaporizing chamber 1 is provided with a reduced neck 4t which engages a threaded pipe 5 which threaded pipe isiin turn threaded into a filler plug carried by the valve casing G. This valve casing comprises an elongated tubular portion having a reduced bore at its end 7 in which works a threaded valve 8 having a pointed end 9 which is adapted to be Specification of Letters Patent.

forced against the beveled 'face 10 of the pipe 5, which beveled face constitutes a. valve seat for closing the passage of the flow of oil into the vaporizing chamber 1. The filler plug 11 is carried by the inner end of the casing to accomnu'nlate the small pipe which connects the valve casing of the vaporivf ing chamber l. rlhe laterally extending sleeve 12 is carried by the casing (5 and en gages a supply pipe 13. rl`he valve stem 8 is provided with a winged end lllfor facilitating the rotation of the valve 8 within the casing G.
The outer end of the channel 2 terminates in an aperture 15 within which aperture is secured the upper end of the depending burner pipe 1G. This burner pipe 16 is provided with a laterally extending burner sec tion 1T having its inner end closed by means of a plug 1S. A bracket 1 9 is secured to the under 'tace of the vaporizing chamber 1 near the inner end thereof and is provided with a collar 2() which encircles the burner section il? for supporting the inner end thereof. This bracket 19 is provided with an angled upper end 21 for conforming to the contour of the lower face of the vaporizing chamber 1.
As clearly illustrated in Figs. Q and 5, the vaporizing chamber comprises a pair of sections having laterally extending flanges Q2 which are securely held together by means of rivets or other suitable fastening means but, it should be umlerstood, that this device may be manufactured by casting the same entirely in one piece as illustrated in Fig.
From the foregoing description it will be obvious that the burner pipe will be directly under the second channel through which the oil or vapor passes, thereby making it possible to heat the oil or vapor just before the same passes into the burner.
That is claimed is An oil burner of the class described comprising a vaporizing chamber having a reduced neck, said chamber including a plurality of parallel channels, one of said channels being an .interior supplying means, and the other of said channels being an outlet pipe, an exterior supplying means, a pipe 5 connecting the exterior supplying means to the neck of said vaporizing chamber, said In testimony whereof I hereunto affix my exterior supplying means comprising a cassignature in presence of tWo Witnesses.
ing, a filler n said casing, the outer end of said pipe 5 engaging in said filler, a' valve JOSEPH l). PRICE. seat o-n the outer end of said pipe 5, and a threaded rod having a Winged finger piece VVtneSses:
and a pointed end adapted to engage said C. A. CLARK,
valve seat to Control the inoW of oil. l JAMES J. WEST.
