FIREARM-SIGHT.
T 0 all whom it may concern Be it known that we, DAYID H. Masters and ARTHUR L. CLARK, citizens of the United States, residing at Gila, in the county of Grant and State of New Mexico, have invented new and useful Improvements in Firearm-Sights, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to firearm sights, the object in view being to provide a device of the class described, which is easily applied to and removed from the barrel of a firearm, and by means of which the front and rear sights are located in sulliciently close proximity to each other to enable the marksman to quickly and accurately sight the firearm 0n the desired object.
lVith the above and other objects in view, the invention consists in the construction, combination and arrangement of parts, as will be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and pointed out in the claim hereunto appended.
In the drawings: Figure 1 is a perspective View of an improved firearm sight embodying the present invention. Fig. 2 is a reduced side elevation of the same shown applied to a firearm.
Referring to the drawings, it will be seen that the improved firearm sight comprises a barrel embracing sleeve 1 adapted to be passed over the end of the barrel 2 of a firearm 3, illustrated in Fig. 1. At its outer end, the barrel embracing sleeve is provided with the single upstanding muzzle sight lip 4, while extending backward from the rear end of the sleeve 1 is a spring tongue 5, to the rear extremity of which Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed August 28, 1912.
Patented June 3, 1913.
Serial No. 717,627.
is attached an upwardly extending notched sight (3 forming the rear sight.
7 designates an adjusting screw which passes through a threaded opening in the spring tongue 5, and is adapted to impinge against the barrel 2 of the firearm, so as to enable the notched sight 6 to be raised and lowered in accordance with the distance of the object from the operator. The elevating screw 7 also acts as a restraining device for holding the sleeve 1 at any desired position throughout the length of the barrel 2.
lVhat is claimed is:
As an article of manufacture, a firearm sight, comprising a transversely continuous barrel embracing sleeve, a muzzle sight lip projecting from the forward end of the sleeve body, a spring tongue forming an integral extension of the sleeve and extending backwardly therefrom in the plane of the sleeve wall, a notched sight at the rear extremity of said spring tongue, all of said parts being integral, and a sight adjusting and clamping screw passing through a threaded opening in said spring tongue and adapted to press directly against the barrel of the firearm, said screw serving to vertically adjust the notched sight and also acting as a binding screw to fasten the device as a whole on the barrel.
In testimony whereof we atiix our signatures in presence of two witnesses.
DAVID H. MASTERS. ARTHUR L. CLARK.
