IMPROVEMENT 1N sUTTER-FASTENERS.
The Schedn-le referred to in these Letters PatentV and-making part of the same.
`Be it known that I, JOHN NV. KING, of the city, 'l
lo hereby declare that the following isa full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will .enable others skilled in the `art to make and use the. same, reference of thi`speoicat1`on. y i g Theinvention relates to blind or shutter-fasteners,
be specified inthe claim. Y
In the accompanying drawing Figure 2` represent a horizontal section oi' the same,
Figure 3y is an insidejview of the sectional lever Similar letters of' parts.
` A is the window-sill. p 4 l v B represents thewindow-blind or shutter.
, C isa fastening-hook, `which is pivoted `to `the sectional t-ubular piece D, as seen in tig. 2.
This piece I) is made in two parts, with a hole in each for receiving the pivots of the hook. The 'pivreference indicate 'corresponding Eis the tast-1eningcatch,`whichis pivoted to 'thctulbnlar pieceF, whiclr piece F isl made in halves with ilanges, G, which allows it tobe fastened to the top.
The catchE, when raised, drops by its own gravity,
and catches the hook when the blind is closed, as seen in. g. 2. H is the detaching lever. This lever is pivoted in the tnbnlar piece I, which is inserted in, and attached to, the inner edge of the window-sill A.
` It will be seen that the pivot J of this leve` forms its i'nlcrum.
The long end of the lever passes in nnder the cate-l1 v E, and its short end` extends to the inner edgeof the -.sill or casing, so far that it may be readily depressed or operated'inside of the room.
As seen in iig. 1, the blind is securely fastened, and
it ca n he nnf'astened only by raising the catch E, and i this can be done only by depressing the short end' of the lever, and thereby raising it.
The tubular piece I, to whi h the 'lever is pivoted, is made in two parts, each part having apivot-hole, as seen in fig. 2.
` The face of the piece I is seen in fig. 3; the surrounding il. nge allows it to he securely fastened to the inner casing of the window.
By this arrangement the wimiow-blind or shutter is entirely protected, and dwellings rendered secure from the depredations of bnrglars.
Having thns described my invention,
I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters
