MAILING-FOLDER.

To all whom if may concern Be it ltnown that I a citizen of the United States, residing at the city of Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented a new and useful Improvement in h'lailing-Folders, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to folders made of cardboard which are distributed by mail for advertising purposes, and which are provided with a detachable portion used as a. mailing card to be returned to the sender. It is necessary that the relatively movable parts or flaps of such device shall be secured together'to make a rigid package, and so as to prevent the overlapping portions from If the latter takes place certain portions. including address or stamp m'tiy become detached and the folder thereby fall of delivery. The securement of these parts together has usually been done by the use of ties, bands or metallic clips. The latter, however, are particularly objectionable. as they have been known to de' stroy the dies of stamp canceling machines, and the use thereof is not satisfactory to the postofii e authorities.

My invention provides means by which the integral portions of the used to secure the outer Hap. It is so designed as to insure the address always being printed or written in the proper place with the minimum of'tiine and maximum of speed either by hand or machine. It in cludes a detachable return which is a part of the folder, and so related to the other parts thereof that the recipient is saved the trouble of signing, or addressing the return postcard, the original mailing address becoming a {ire-signature when detached. As the card is also provided with a return address, it only remains for the person receiving the same to write the message and post the detached card.

4', and t3 are of a form identical to that set forth in the preferred construction by the following numerals respectively 1, 2, 3, 3 3'', r, 5, 5, and 6. Said modified construction only (litters in that the member e thereof is at a point within the flap 2 somewhat removed from the scoring 4; whereas in the preferred construction, it borders upon the scoring 4. The operation of both constructions herein described are identical.

I claim:

1. A mailing folder comprising a body portion. an inner flap and an outer flap, said inner flap having one end scored its entire width to provide a detachable postcard and also provided with an integrally formed rectangular longitudinally extending member curfree at one edge on the line of said scoring and also cut free at two of its other edges and adapted to resiliently engage the lower edge of said outer flap.
