Be it known that I, EDWIN B. Soni/inclina, vUnited States, residing at Norfolk, in thecounty of Norfolk and State of Virginia, have invented new and useful improvements in infants High Chairs, o-f which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to infants highchairs and more particularly to the tables used in connection therewith.

The object of the invention is the provision of a table which may be readily applied to an infants high-chair and be voperated within the space occupied by the chair and avoids the use ofa the eXtra arms necessary Where the table is hinged .to the back of the chair andv swings over the same.

A further object of the invention is the provision of a table adapted to be positioned across the arms of the ordinary high-chair and which can be operated with the chair close to the wall oneither side or behind the chair 'thus greatly economizing room space and at the same time p-roviding a table which obviates the danger of striking the child upon the head-when thrown to operative position.

A further objectof'the invention is the provision of a novel hinge for mounting-the table so as to permit vertical and lateral vent lateral movement of the table when in operative position.

Further objects of the invention will appear as the following specific description is 4read in connection with the accompanying drawing which forms a part of this application, and in which: l

Referring more particularly to the drawings 1 represents the ordinary high-chair having the side arms 2 and 3 upon one of which is secured the hinge 4 comprising1 a 5 and a leaf 6 which as its ends upturned as at 7 so as to form guiding ianges which are adapted to receive the side edges of the table 8. The table having reduced .edges which are slidably mounted between the upturned anges of leaf 6 as engaged from the shown and is limited in one`direction by a pin 9 which is secured to the underside of the table and is adapted to engage the leaf 6. The table is prevented from becoming disleaf 6 when in inoperative position by -means of a pin 10 which projectsv below the .table from the opposite end to that having the 'pin 9 and is adapted to engage upon the attaching leaf 5 as shown in dotted lines in Fig 1. This) pin is also adapted to enter an aperture 11 formed in the upper side4 of the arm 3 as shown in section in Fig. 4 so as to prevent lateral movement of the table-or 'transverse movement thereof across the chair. A suitable spring catch 12 is provided which may be of any suitable design to lock the free end o f the table when the same is in operative position.k

In the operation of desired to place the table in operative position, it is moved vertically from the position shown' in dotted lines in Fig. 1, sliding through the leaf 6 until the pin 9 cont-acts therewith and then the free end of the table is lowered into contact withthe arm rllhe pin 10 enters-the hole 11 and prevents lateral displacement of the table and also any transverse movement thereof across the chair and the spring catch 12 prevents the infant from raising the table and spilling the contents thereof.

Having thus described the invention, what is claimed is" 1. The combination with a chair having arms, of a hinge member ing, leaf secured to one of said arms, inbent' ianges being formed on the side edges of the other leaf to form guides, a vtable mounted to slide lin said guides, a pin inner surface of said table adjacent one end thereof, said pin adapted to engage the flanged leaf to limit the inward movement of the table, and a second pin secured to the inner surface of the tableadjacent its opposite end, said pinadapted to engagea notch provided in the other armV of the chair, vto lock the table in operative position, and adapted to enga leaf to limit movement o opposite direction. t
