yLettere PatentNo. 105,740, dated Juli/26, 1870.
v FARMERS BOEQER.
tlneselmiiule referred to in these Lettera 'Patent und making pail: of the same.
I, RICHARD W. THIcKINs'of Batavia,` in the county of Kane and State of Illinois, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Farmers Boilers, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing.v
The Nature and Object of my Incention.
ing when the kettle is beingrevolved, as hereafter deA scribed. l
VDeixcf'zpon of Draw/ing. Figure 1 is a side elevation ofthe farmers boiler.;
Figure 2, a side elevation with the adjustable section of the case or jacket swung back;
Figure 3, a-to'p or plan view of the boiler; and Figure 4,'a side elevation of the boiler with the kettle revolved on its trunnons..
General Description.
A is the base of the boiler;
B is the fire-pot; and
C, the ash-space. l
1) is the opening o'r d oor to the ash-space, and' E, the feed-spout for feeding fuel into the fire-pot.
F is the case or jacketinwhich the kettle H is hung; it is made in vertical sections, as shown, the adjustable parts being hinged to the 4stationary part of the jacket.
I I are rests or Vbearings firmly secured to the jacket F, for the trunnions J of. the kettle.
-There are Ialso stops' K attached to the kettle that have a bearing on'the rests or supports L I usually place the truhnions J a little 'in front ot' the center of the kettle, so that,in revolving the kettle, less than 'half of it will swingbelow the trunnions on which it turns. When it revolves the stops Kars raised from the'rest-I, as shown in fig. 4, and, in order that they.
may not strike against the top rim of the jacket F, I makethe pieces O so4 that they can be swung. back out of the way.
P is the smoke-pipe.
.S are braces that brace or support the jacket F, to prevent it from spreading, and the heads on the trunnions J lock over the bearing I, and also serve to keep the jacket fromA spreading when A.the adjustable sections are removed...
- Tis an eye attached to the kettle, especially .the large sized ones, for the convenience lof being hitched to empty the kettle.
C Zat'ms.
What I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Iatent is- 1.- The jacket F, made in sections, substantially as described, for the purposes specified.
2. The kettle H, hung on trunuions J, in the jacket or ease F, substantially as described, for the purposes,V
set forth. u
3. The braces S, in combination with l the open jacket or case F, when constructed substantially as' described, for the purposes specified.
