PIPE-HANGER.
-Specication of Letters Patent.
Application led June 1912. Serial No. 703,889. i
Patented 13m18.191s
To all whom zt may concern.'
Be it known thatv I, ANDREW S1DoLI,.citi
zen of the United States, residing at Central Nyack, in the county of Rockland and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Pipe-Hangers, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein tothe accom.- panying drawing.` A f This invention relates to pipe hangers,
.and has for its object the production .of an ments of parts as will be hereinatenfully.v
described and.. claimed.
Referring ,to the accompanying drawings, wherein 1 Figure 1 isa perspective view of one form Aof the invention.
Fig. 2 1is a'perspective view of another form of the invention. Fig. f3 is avertical.sectional'view of the device wvith annpturned flange 12'.
as shown in Fig. 1.
1. Fig. 5 is a vert-ical sectional view'ofthe vdevice as shown in Fig. 2. Fig.f'6fis` a transf verse sectional view of the arm as shown in Flg. 2.
This deviceconsists of 4a plate -10- with an angle` foot r11.l The angle footlis provided A segmento-` spherical socket 13 is formed on the upper 4face of the angle foot 11. In the socket 13 and 'extending at. right angles to the base 10 is a slot 14, said slot being wider at its central portion and tapering toward its ends.- Sitting within the segmentospheri .cal socket 13 is aball 14 which has a threaded aperture 15 to receive the stem 16 of the hangerv hook 17. The/plate 10 is provided with apertures v18 throughlwhich screws 19 pass to secure the hanger in positio The other form of this invention consists.
of a plate 1.0 and an angle arm 20, the angle arm being provided with a segmento-spherical socket. 21 on its upper face to receive the ball 14, the socket being provided with a slot 22 through which the hanger passes lsecure .it by? Fig. l is a transversesectional view ofthefo'ot as shown 1n Fig.
similar in all respects to the slot 14. This form of the invention is -adapted to be used mostly in cellars where the pipes are preferably 'suspended close to the ceiling and the hanger can be secured to the joists.
The threadedy aperture 15 receiving the threaded stem 16 of the hanger hook 17 gives the hanger a vertical 'adjusting means.v
The slot 14 heilig wider at its central portion than the hanger hook stem gives room for a lateral movement when the heat er:-
pands the pipes.
There has thus been provided a simple and e'liicientl device of the Acharacter described and for the purpose specified.
It is obvious that minorchanges 'may be made in the'form and construction .-pf this invention without departing from the material `parts thereof. It is, therefore, not
wished to coniinezthe invention 'to the exact.
form shown and described, butitis wisled to include all suchI as properlyl come Wit in the scopeclaimed.-
Having thusy described this invention, what is claimediszi 1. In a hanger of the class described, a
plate provided with a segmento-spherical socket projectingkfrom one end, said socket having 'a slot therein, a ball'held in said socket and provided with a; threaded opening, and a hanger hoo-k having a threaded stem engaged in'said opening.'
2.'l In a hanger of the class described,- the combination of a plate provided with a Segmento-spherical"socket projecting' from one end, a slot extending longitudinally, .from said socket, a ball' held in said socket, and
stem adjustably secured therein.
3. In a hanger oef the' class described; a plate, said plate having an angle foot at its lower end, said foot being provided with a segmento-spherical socket on its upperv face, a ball positioned in said socket, said socket having a longitudinal slot therein and a stem adjustably'mounted in said ball andipassing through said longitudinal slot. In testimony whereof I hereunto aiiix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
ANDREW SID OLI.
