The construction, operation, and relative arrangement of the component parts of' our invention are `as follows, to wit:

. The said pieces are connected and hinged together by means of the links b b, secured` thereto by screws and staples, as shown, in such a manner as to allow them to be opened' or shut at pleasure. The said links, on onefend of the h'older, are sprung outward, in such ainanncr as to prevent the pieces from being entireiy opened, unless force is used, and to hohl them,-whcn so required, in a partially closed position.

The operation of the invention is apparent from the foregoing description of its construction.

lWe are aware that sad-iron holders have been herctofore constructed of two cylindrical pieces, operated by a spring; we, therefore, do 'not claim such` devices \Vhat we claim, and desire tosecure by Letters Patent, -is- The arrangement of the linksb b', s elni-cylmirioal parts A A', and spring d, when constructed to operate together, in such a manner that the part-s A A may be held either partially or wholly open, and the spring cl may he entirely concealed within the said parts, y as described.
