GEORGE W. PILKINGTON, 0F GARNETT, KANSAS.
WATER-CLOSET SEAT.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed May 28. 1912.
Patented Mar. 4, 1913.
Serial No. 700,250.
To all whom, it may concern Be it known that I, GEORGE WV. PILKING- TON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Garnett, in the county of Anderson and State of Kansas, have invented new and useful Improvements in ater-Closet Seats, of which the following is a specification.
The invention relates to toilet appliances, and more particularly to the class of water closet seats.
The primary object of the invention is the provision of a seat of this character in which a person when occupying the same will be relieved from constipation, by reason of pressure being exerted upon the wall of the lower bowel from a projection or horn formed on the body of the seat at the rear thereof.
Another object of the invention is the provision of a seat, wherein the body of the same is constructed in a novel manner so as to effect the discharge of fecal matter from the lower bowel when a person is occupying the said seat, the seat being comfortable to the user, and will not injure the person during occupancy.
A further object of the invention is the provision of a seat of this cha 'acter which is simple in construction, reliable and efficient in its purpose, and inexpensive in manufacture.
lVith these and other objects in view the invention consists in the construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described, illus trated in the accompanying drawing, and pointed out in the claim hereunto appended.
In the drawing :Figure l is a plan view of a seat constructed in accordance with the invention. Fig. 2 is a vertical longitudinal sectional view thereof. Fig. 3 is a vertical transverse sectional view of the same.
Similar reference characters indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views in the drawings.
Referring to the drawings by numerals, the seat comprises a body 5 prefe "ably constructed in sections, the same being joined at their meeting ends by means of dowel pins 6, to form the usual well-known water closet seat, having the ordinary shape, although the same may be made in any other desirable manner and of any other shape should it be necessary.
The body 5 in alinement with its longitudinal axis at the rear thereof is formed with a forwardly inclined projection 7 which depends below the plane of the under face of said body and is formed with an outwardly bowed outer face 8, the projection 7 being designed to act upon the rectal gut when a person occupies the seat and when such person exerts a gentle pressure backward against the projection so as to effect an upward pressure on the said gut thereby causing the emptying of the lower bowel or feral matter, without requiring straining of the person on the seat. Thus in this n'ianner, a person will be relieved of constipation when occupying the seat.
It is of course to be understood that the projection may be made separate from the body of the seat and fastened thereto in .suitable manner.
From the foregoing description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, it is thought that the construction and operation of the invention will be clearly understood, and therefore, a more extended explanation has been omitted.
\Vh'at is claimed is In a seat of the class described, a body having a central hole, and means projecting forwardly at an inclination from the rear wall of said hole, the said means being formed with an outwardly bowed outer face.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
GEORGE V. PILKINGTON.
