provements in Skees, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to "skees and its object is to produce a skee that is provided with a hinged section that in use will permit ,the user to raise the heel of? .of the skee independently of the front part of the foot thus permitting a natural stroke and facilitating the use of the skee generally.
' lVith the foregoing and other objects in view the invention consists in the combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter fully described in the following specification, ,pointed out in the claim and illustrated in the accompanying drawing which forms a part 0 the specification and in which Figure 1 is a side elevation of my im' 2 proved skee. Fig. 2 is a plan of the same Fig. 3 is a section taken on line 3-3 of Fi 2. Fig. 4 is a view of the plate fastened dl rectly to the base of the skee. I Like reference characters indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views.
1 is the body of the skee to which I secure a plate 2 thattat one end is provided with oppositely disposed lugs 3, 3 turned upward. Rods 4:, 4 extend from the lugs, 3, 3 toward the front end of the skee and toe straps 5 are secured to the said rods.
6 is a foot clamp pivotally secured to the lugs 3, 3 and to which the foot strap 7 is secured. The foot clamp 6 being pivotally secured to the lugs 3, 3 permits the heel of the operator to be raised as shown in Fig. 1. Near the forward ends of the rods 4, l a grooved plate 8 is provided through the grooves 9, 9 of which the said rods extend and the said plate is. fastened by screws or in any suitable manner to the skee 1. The plate 8 is apertured through its central portion to receive-one end of a thumb screw 10 that also passes through an apertured retaining plate 11 disposed upon the plate 8 and grooved in alinem'e-nt with the grooves 9, 9 in the last mentioned plate to clamp the rods 4, 4 down upon the said plate 8.
lVhat is claimed is In a skee, a plate provided with upturned lugs secured thereto, foot clamping means pivotally secured to said lugs, a foot strap secured to said foot clamping means, rods secured to said upturned lugs, a toe strap secured to said rods and clamping means secured to the skee and engaging the forward extremity of said rods for retaining them in position.
In testimony that-I claim the foregoing as my own I have hereto afiixed'my signature in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
