JOSEPH MILCINSKY, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS, ASISIGNOR OF ONE-HALF TO STANISLAV FIRIBAS, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
KEY-RING.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOSEPH Mlncinskr, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Key-Rings, of which the following is a specification.
The object. of this invent-ion is to produce an improved device for holding keys or similar articles.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a. side elevation of a key holder embodying the features of my invention. Fig. 2 is an edge elevation thereof. Fig. 3 is a fragmentary side view showing the two elements of the holder in a different relation from that shown in Fig. 1.
The device comprises, in the form herein shown, two plate-like members 1 and 2 of circular form, said members lying face to face and being connected at their centers by a rivet 3 to permit relative rotation thereof. The two members are identical, each comprising a central portion or disk 4, a plurality of radial arms 5 extending outwardly from the periphery of said disk, and a series of segments 6 each supported at its middle point upon the outer ends of said radial arms.
The segments 6 together form a complete ring, the spaces between the abutting ends of said segments forming slots through which keys are sprung in placing them upon the ring. As shown most clearly in Fig. 3, the slots in the two members of the device extend obliquely in opposite directions. One or both of the central disks 4: may have numbers thereon adjacent to its periphery, said numbers indicating the spaces formed by the radial arms 5 for assisting in readily finding the desired key.
The normal relation of the two parts of the holder is shown in Fig. 1, wherein the two members are so positioned with relation to each other as to bring the radial arms of the said members substantially midway between the arms of the other member. In the present instance I have illustrated four arms on each of the members, thus providing eight individual spaces for holding the keys. IVhen the two members are in the relative position shown in Fig. 1, the ends of the segments 6 of one of the members lie Specification of Letters Patent. Patented F 1 18 1913 Application filed November 1, 1912.

opposite the ends of the radial arms on the other member.
In associating a key with the holder the end of one of the segments 6 is sprung to one side and the key inserted about such end, the key then being slid along the segment until it comes opposite the end of one of the segments of the other member, when such other segment end will be sprung to one side to permit the ring of the key to inclose it. As shown in Fig. 3, when the two members are rotated to bring their radial arms into register, the slots upon the ends of the segments 6 will overlie and cross each other. In this posit-ion of the members a key may readily be inserted by springing the ends of two segments 6 apart to receive the ring of the key.
Obviously my invention is not limited to the precise details herein set forth, but modifications within the scope of the appended claims may be made.
I claim as my invention:
1. A key holder comprising two similar plate-like members lying face to face and rotatably connected together at their common center, said members providing a plurality of independent spaces adapted to receive keys.
2. A key holder comprising two circular plate-like members lying face to face and rotatably connected at their common center, each of said members comprising a central portion, outwardly extending arms, and coinciding ring sections supported at the outer ends of said arms.
3. A key holder comprising two circular plate-like members lying face to face and rotatably connected at their centers, each of said members comprising a central disk, arms extending radially therefrom, and segments supported at their mid-portions upon the outer ends of said arms, the ends of said segments abutting to form a complete ring.
4. A key holder comprising a central disk, arms extending outwardly from said disk, and a plurality of segments each supported at its mid-portion upon the outer end of one of said arms, the ends of said segments abutting between each pair of said arms to form a complete ring.
5. A key holder comprising two plate-like members lying face to face and rotatably connected together, each of said members the slots of one member lying at the ends comprising a central disk, arms extending of the arms of the other member. 10 radially therefrom, and a ring supported by In testimony whereof I aflix my signature the outer ends of said arms, said ring haV- in the presence of two witnesses.
5 ing slots therethrough between each pair of JGSEPI-I MILCINSKY.
said arms, and the arms of one of said Witnesses: members being positioned substantially mid- J. C. DEYIOK, way between the arms of the other member, GEORGE L. CHINDAHL.
