To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, JOSEPH ZADORA, a citizen of the United States, residing at Lake Ann, in the county of Benzie and State of Michigan, have invented new and useful Improvements in Nose-Bags, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to nose bags and has for an object to provide yieldable means for supporting the bag whereby under the weight of the feed in the bag the latter will be held distended and as the feed is removed from the bag a corresponding weight will be relieved so that under the action of the yieldable means the bag will be tele scoped and the bottom thereof automatically brought into such proximity with the mouth of an animal as will facilitate his eating and obviate the necessity of his throwing his head from side to side with a view to reaching the feed.

Another object of the invention is to provide a bag of this nature which will be extremely simple in construction, durable in use and capable of being folded to occupy a very compact package when not in use.

In the drawing forming a portion of this application, and in which like letters of reference indicate similar parts in the several views :Figure 1 is a side view of the bag showing its application to the head of an animal. Fig. 2 is a vertical section therethrough. Fig. 3 is an edge view of the bag folded. Fig. 4: is a bottom plan view of the bag. Fig. 5 is a top plan view of the device showing the developing fabric of the member 4 partially broken away.

The bag 1 may be constructed of fabric: or any suitable well known material that may be found best adapted for the purpose intended, and as illustrated the bag is provided with top walls 2 in which the usual nose opening 3 is formed, the said top walls being folded around a spring 4 whereby the walls of the nose opening will be held engaged with the nose opening will be held engaged with the nose of an animal to prevent the accidental escape of the feed at this point. The side and end walls of the bag are provided with continuous folds 5 in which rectangular reinforcing wires or like devices 6 are secured. These wires are employed so as to accurately define the proper lines of fold of the bag and to permit the latter to be folded or compressed to a comparatively flat condition.

The exterior surface of the bottom of the bag has secured thereto a thin sheet springy plate member 8 of metal Whose end portions have hingedly connected thereto hinged plates 9, said plates being secured adjacent their upper portions to the end walls of the bag as designated at 10. The said plates 9 and plates 8 are provided with loops 9 and adapted to receive a pintle 9 whereby the plates 8 and 9 are permanently hinged together and ermit of the folding of the lowermost section 11 of the bag. Upon the exterior or outer face portion of the bottom of the bag is secured a reinforcing member 11, under whose office the bag is maintained in a flat position when the bag is folded and preventing the sagging of the bottom. The said reinforcing member 11 comprises a single strand of wire bent to provide opposite attaching end portions 12'. One of the attaching end portions 12' reversely extends and the leg portions 13 of the reversely extended portions of one of the attaching ends 12 define with those leg portions 14 of the opposite attaching end portions, substantially triangular portions 15, whose terminal portions extend adjacent to and throughout the longitudinal edges of the bottom of the bag, thereby serving to reinforce the entire surface of the bottom of the bag. The said defined leg portions of the opposite attaching ends 12 manently secured to the bottom by means 16. Retractile springs 12 have their lower ends secured to the attaching end portions 12 of the reinforcing member while their upper ends are secured to the end portions of the upper reinforcing ring. Fastening bolts or clips 13 are attached to the uppermost reinforcing member and they have operatively connected therewith headstall straps 14, whereby the bag can be effectually suspended from the head of the animal as shown in Fig. 1.

From the construction described it is evident that the bag can be arranged upon the head of an animal in such manner that on the displacement of the feed from the bag the latter will be automatically governed and gradually collapsed so that the bottom of the bag will approach the mouth of the animal.

I claim 1. A nose bag having sides and ends provided with superimposed continuous folds, reinforcing members secured in the folds,

attaching are per the top Wall of the bag having an opening therein, clips secured to the uppermost reinforcing member, a springy plate secured to the bottom of the bag and having hinged portions secured to the ends of the bag, a reinforcing member exteriorly located upon the bottom and extending thefull length thereof, and springs connecting the latter mentioned reinforcing member With the up- V permost reinforcing member.

A. nose bag having sides and ends and provided With a springy bottom, a reinforcing member exteriorly exposed upon the bottom and co-extensive therewith and secured thereto, the top Wall of the bag having an opening therein, and springs connecting the bottom with the top of the bag and operating to fold the ba g automatically on the placing of the feed therein.
