Specification of Letters Patent.

To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, GEORGE W. Nn soN, a citizen of the .United States, residing at Plentywood, in the county of Valley and State of Montana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Washing? Machines, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.
This invention relates to washing machines and has for its object the production of an efiicient washing device which may be -attachedto the ordinary boiler.
Another object of this invention is the production of an eflicient device for supporting the plungers of the washing machine in connection-with the cover.
With these and other objects in view this invention consists of certain novel constructions, combinations, and arrangements ofparts, as will be hereinafter fully described and claimed.
In the drawings :-Figure 1 isa perspective view of a washing device. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal vertical section thereof. Fig.
3 is a perspective view of the top showing the washing plungers attache thereto. Fig. 4 is a central transverse vertical section. Fig. 5 is a fragmentary vertical section ofa portion of the top showing the manner of connecting the plunger frame to the side of the top.
Referring to the accompanying drawings by numerals 1 designates the ordinary body of awash boiler and 2 designates the top which may be secured to the body 1. The top 2 is provided'with an elongated longitudinally extending slot 3 through which extends the operatmg handle 4. A transverse shaft 5 1s carried,- by the lower end of the operating handle 4 and has its reduced ends 6 journaled within the securing journals 7. These journals 7 consist of elongated block portions having bulged portions 8.

Of course, the usual handles 16 may be employed upon the boiler but, it should be understood that the construction of. the
top' is in no way dependent upon the construction of the boiler or body 1, since the top may be itself marketed entirely independent of the body, and may be secured to and is intended to 'be made to fit the ordinary size boiler now in use.

What is claimed is:
In a washing machine of the class described, a body portion, a top used in connection with Y said body portion, said; top provided with a punched rib constituting a circumferential groove, journals detach-' ably carried by said circumferential groove andprovided withsockets within *their body portion, a shaft carried within said top, said shaft provided with reduced ends, said ends fitting within said socketsformed insaid 1ournals, diverging arms carried by said;shaft,'plunger means carriedby said arms, said top provided with an elongate slot, an operating handle carried by said shaft'and extending) through said slot, whereby said arms may e-r'ocked.
