Application filed July 18, 1910. Serial No. 572,510.
Be it known that I, HENRY GEORGE Bos- TON, a subject of Great Britain, residing at N0. 50 Scarcroft road, York, England, have invented new and useful Improvements in or Connected with Closures for the Mouths of Hollow Vessels, of'which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to closures for the mouths of hollow vesselsand, has particular reference to a type of glass bottle to be made by machinery, for holding sweets,
pickles, and the like, and the-invention consists in a particular or specific shape and disposition of rim and mouthwhich are formed integrally with the bottle at the same time to characterize the said type of bottle, and an appropriate cap adapted to coact with the special rim'and mouth aforesaid so as to fprm an effective air-tight closure for the mouths of such vessels.

The cap F is so shaped relatively to the said rim C that it-will fit readily by the resiliency of the depending flange or rim F on to the top K of the vessel, and adapt itself to the variable contour of the rim,
and by a slight turn cause it to fix itself in an air-tight manner, the turn being given until the. rim holds the cap against further turning.-
If required, by providing a slight extension to and around the flange or rim F of the cap F it can be adapted for allowing the bottle or jar to be further sealed or made air-tight by the use of an adhesive material such as is often used with ordinary corks or bungs of pickle bottles for that purose. p The invention applies equally to tins, jars, or any hollow mouthed vessel for preserves, or commercial foods for domestic consumption.
