Specification of Letters Patent.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that 1, CHARLES F. KADE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Sheboygan, in the county of Sheboygan and State of lVisconsin, have invented new and useful Improvements in Drawers or Bins, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to sliding receptacles and more particularly to drawers or bins.

The object of the invention is to provide a drawer or bin which will fill the opening in the case as closely as possible and which requires only a slight movement to obtain ready access to the drawer.

A further object of the invention is to provide a cheaply constructed and efficient device of this character which requires only a slight outward movement to gain access to the drawer, thereby saving considerable room and doing away with all projections beyond the line of the case.

These drawers can be made for any and all classes of merchandise, for letter or document file cabinets, or for any purpose which such a device is adapted and may be constructed of metal or wood, as desired.

Further objects of this invention will appear as the followng specific description is read in connection with the accompanying drawing, which forms a part of this application, and in which Figure 1 is a sectional View through the drawer showing the same in closed position. Fig. 2 is a similar view showing the drawer in open position. Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the drawer removed from the case.

Referring more particularly to the drawing, 1 represents a casing which comprises base pieces 2, bottom 3, sides and back, 4 and 5, respectively, and a top 6. Where these casings are multiplied, the sides 4 con stitute separating partitions and the bottom 3 extends from one end of the shelving to the other end, while the base pieces are at the ends of the shelving 1 and the front piece 7 extends the full length of the bottom 3.

Mounted within the case is a drawer 8 having its bottom 9 inclined from the back 10 to the front 11, which latter piece is sufliciently long to abut against the bottom 3 against the top 6 so as to limit the inward movement of the drawer. The front 3 may be paneled, as shown at 12, or may be provided with a glass front, as is found desirable. A suitable handle 13 is connected to .the front 11 for manipulating the drawer and this handle is so arranged that it does not extend beyond the ledge piece 14 upon which the shelving, not shown, is adapted to rest.

The sides 15 of the drawer 8 are extended at their lower edge beyond the bottom 9 and are inclined from the back to a point adjacent the front, as shown at 16, on a line parallel with the bottom to form tracks. From the point 17, the tracks are extended downwardly on a compound curve 18 to the front 11. This forms a cam 19 which opcrates over a roller 20 to raise the drawer to the position shown in Fig. 1 where the front plate will abut the bottom and top 3 and 6, respectively. When the drawer is open, the same will drop to the track 16 so that the front 11 will be inclined at an angle to the front of the case. The outward movement of the drawer is limited by a turn button 21 which is pivoted to one of the sides 15 of the drawer and is adapted to abut against the back 8 when in operative position and to engage a stop piece 22 carried upon the under side of the top adjacent the forward portion thereof.

If desired, the rear end of the track may be flattened, as shown at 23, on a line with the bottom of the cam 19 and parallel with the top of the drawer, which flattened portion is at an angle to the tracks 16.
