Be it known that 1, Samuel. ELinoN, a citizen of the United States of America, and a resident of Exeter, in the county of Rockingham and State of New llampsl'iire, have invented certain new and useful Improvement-s in Safes for Toilet Articles, of which the following is a specification.

This invention.relates to safes for toilet articles and the like, the object being to provide a device by which any individual may lock up all the toilet articles to be used by him and prevent their unauthorized use by others.

It consists in a casing having a chamber in which may be stored the smaller toilet art ielcs to be used, such as tooth brushes and powder, nail brushes, etc., said chamber being! closed by a door adapted to be locked while the exterior of said casing is provided with members for locking: the hair brush and comb, all of said members and door being locked by suitable key operated mechanisms contained within said casing.

The invention consists in certain novel features of construction and arrangement of parts which will be readily understood by reference to the lescription of the drawings and to the claims hereinafter given.

Of the drawings: Figure 1 represents a front elevation of a device embodying the features of the present invention. Fig. 2 represents a rearelevation of the same, with the back plate removed and a portion broken in section. Fig. 3 represents a horizontal section, the cutting plane being on line 3 3 on Fig. 2. Fig lrepresents an end elevation, and Fig. 5 represents an elevation of the mechanism for operating the various locking devices.

In the drawings, 10 represents a casing having secured thereto the back plate 11. This back plate 11 has upwardly extending cars 12 by which the device may be secured to a Wall or any other member. The front face of the casing has secured thereto a towel rack 13 and a frame 14- in which is mounted a mirror 15. The interior of the casing 10 is provided with a horizontal division wall 16 forming a chamber 17 in which may be stored small toilet articles, such as tooth brushes, nail brushes, tooth powder,

and the lite. Access to this chamber 17 is provided through the opening 18 in one end of the casing 10, said opening 18 being adapted to be closed by the door 19 hinged at 20. Secured to the inner face of the door 19 is the downwardly extending lip or hook member 21 adapted to be engaged by a pro jection formed upon a slidable member 23. This slidable member 23 is adapted to tra vol upon the guide member 24 forming a part of a support 25 secured within the casin 10 beneath the division wall 16. The slidahle member Q3 is composed in part of a rack 26, the teeth of which engage the pinions 27 and ZSireely revoluble upon the studs 2) and 30. Meshing with the pinions 27 and 28 is another pinion 31 secured to and revoluble with the memb r 32, the outer end of which is provided wit1 a cylindrical head 2-33, freely revoluble in bearing 34 forming a part of or secured to one end of the casing 10. Theend of this head 33 abuts against the inner face of the end wall of the casing 10, said end wall being provided with a keyhole 35, through which may be inserted a key 36 for insertion into the socket 37 in the end of the head 33. WVhen the key is thus inserted and turned, movement will be transmitted to the gear 31 through the shaft 32 and to rotate the gears 27 and 28 and cause the slidable member 23 to be moved transversely of the casing on the guide members 24. Vllhen the member 23 is thus moved toward the left of Fig: 5 of the drawing, the lip 22 will be moved into position to engage the hook 521 and prevent the door 19 from being opened. ()n the front face of the casing 10 is secured a pocket or compartment 38 open 'on one side to admit a slidable holder 39 adapted to receive a comb all). This holder 39 is provided with a rearwardly extending projec' lion 4.1 movable in a slot 42 formed in the front wall of the casing 10.
