FREDRIGK J'. MOORE, OF FIR-0V0, UTAH.
DISPLAY DEVICE.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, FREDRIOK J MOORE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Provo, in-the county of Utah and State of Utah, have invented certainnew and useful Improvements in Display Devices, of which the following is a specification.
This device is constructed to receive and support both rods upon which articles may be hung and cards or similar articles which are usually held in a clip.
The device may readily be secured in place within the usual showcase.
Referring to the accompanying drawing Figure 1 is a front elevation of a horizontal showcase with a portion broken away, showing the device vertically attached to its rear wall; Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the upper end of the device, showing a portion of the vertical support-rod, a clip secured thereon in adjusted position, and a portion of a horizontal rod held in the clip; Fig. 3 is an end View of a clip; and Fig. 4 is a top view of theclip.
The device illustrated comprises a long straight cylindrical metal rod 1, the ends of which are bent rearw'ardly and secured in short plates 2. through an opening in each of the plates and serves to secure the plates and rod to any wall or wooden piece into which the screws may be driven. In Fig. 1, the plates 2 are illustrated as screwed to the vertical central wooden rib 4 of the rear wall of a showcase 5 having a glass front and top.
Surrounding and adjustably secured on the rod 1 are a number of clips 6. Displayrods are shown in the upper two clips of Fig. 1, and display-cards in the lower two clips. Each clip consists of a rectangular piece of resilient sheet-metal, such as spring steel or brass, bent at its middle to form a curved socket 7, receiving the rod 1, and parallel Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed January 9, 1911.
A thumbscrew 3 passes Serial No. 601,604.
wings 8, the ends 9 of which are slightly bent or flanged apart to facilitate the introduction of a card. A hollow rib 10 is pressed outward from the middle of the clip, servin to stiffen it and also to provide a horizontal socket. A clamping-screw 11 passes transversely through alined openings in the ribbed portions of the wings 8, receiving a thumb-nut 12. This nut serves to force the clip-wings 8 into proximity, thereby clamping between them either a display-rod 13 or a display-card 1 1, and simultaneously contracting the socket 7 upon the rod 1 so as to firmly hold the clip in adjusted position.
The support-rod may be made of any desired length and provided with any desired number of clips, adjusted thereon to any desired positions, and either a display-rod or card may be clamped in any clip.
I claim 1. In combination, a support-rod, a flexible clip comprising a socket receiving said rod and adjacent wings adapted to receive and hold a card, parallel recesses pressed out of said wings and adapted to receive and hold a rod, and means for forcing said wings together, thereby simultaneously clamping a card or rod and contracting the socket on said support-rod.
2. In combination, a support-rod, a flexible clip comprising a socket receiving said rod and adjacent wings flanged apart at their ends, a hollow rib pressed out of said clip and providing parallel recesses, and a clamping-screw passing through the ribbed portions of said wings.
In testimony whereof, I aflix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
