To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, MARTIN V. HAMMAGK,

[arcit-izen ofthe United States, residing at Springfield, in the county of Greene and .State of Missouri, have invented :certaIn new and useful Improvements in Trousers Appliances or Devices, of which the following is 'a specification.

to any size or shape of trousers, and which will perform the creasing and stretching of the trousers, and insure a perfect shape and condition to' the trousers.

Another object of my invention is the provision of a trousers device which will be light in weight and which can be collapsed or folded to permit of its being carried in a trunk or suit case, as occasion demands.

Another object of my invention is the provision ofa trousers device whichwill occupy a small amount of space; which can be applied instantly and adjusted to the trousers; which can be produced at the right, price and which will prove efficient and practical in every particular.

To attain the desired objects, myinventionconsists of a trousers device or appliance embodying novel features of construction and combination of parts, substantially as disclosed herein. l

i In order that the detailed construction and the operation of my appliance may be readily understood and its advantages be fully appreciated, I have illustrated in the accompanying drawings an embodiment of my invention, it being understood thatI may make such changes and additions as fall within the scope-of my invention.

audits threaded portion N engaging the threadedthimble O in they suppor g From this construction, it will be observed that the appliance is'placed inthe trousers, and that the flat sleeves are ad-' justed laterally to fit the upper and lower portions of the trousers, and when adjusted, the turning of the rod and screw moves, the pair of racks J and brings the pair of wires P, which fit in the recesses of the lower sleeves at P, and engage theupper recesses of the sleeves at P and are formed with loops Q, retained in proper place by sliding sleeves Q, which engage any of the teeth of. the racks J, forcing-the wires P into engagementwith the legs of the trousers, the wires being drawn taut and fitting the inside of the trousers to effect a pressing, creasing and stretching of the trousers.

It is evident that the device will give the proper crease to the trousers from the hip or seat to the end of the leg and save the annoyance and expense consequent upon pressing with a hot-iron.

It will also be seen that the device may be adjusted to any size or shape of trousers and will perform its functions in a practical and efficient manner and that by reason of its simplicity, durability and cheapness will insure a useful and desirable article for the purpose designed.

I claim 1. A device of the character described, consisting of a support, a pair of cross-pieces arranged horizontally with reference to the support connected to said support, a plate connected to one of said cross-pieces and shaped to permit ready insertion into the trousers leg, and laterally adjustable means mounted on the cross-pieces for engaging the seat and leg of the trousers.

2. A device of the character described, consisting of a support, a pair of cross-pieces arranged horizontally with reference to the support connected to said support, a'plate connected to one of said cross-pieces and shaped to permit ready insertion into the trousers leg, laterally adjustable means mounted on the cross-pieces for engaging the seat and leg of the trousers, and connections between the cross-pieces to bear against the trousers to efliect the creasing and pressing.

3. A device of the character described, consisting of a tubular support, a pair of cross-pieces mounted on the support, a pair of rack bars having their lower ends connected to the upper cross-piece, a rod having a handle and adjustable in the tubular support, and a pair of wires having a loop at one end to engage the rack bars and having their other ends connected to the lower crosspiece.

4. A device of the character described, consisting of a support, an upper and lower cross-piece carried by the support, a pair of laterally adjustable sleeves carried by the cross-pieces to fit the seat and leg and wires connecting the sleeves and engaging the trousers to efiect the creasing and stretching.

5. A device of the character described, consisting of a support, a pair of crosspieces mounted upon the support, an adjusting rod mounted in the support, a'pair of rack bars adjusted by the rod, and a pair of wires having their lower ends connected to the lower cross-piece and their upper ends engaging the rack bars.

6. In a device of the character described, the combination of a support, an upper wide cross-piece and a lower narrower cross-piece mounted upon the support, lateral adjusting sleeves fitted on the cross-pieces and having recesses in their edges, a pair of wires fitting and carried in said recesses, a pair of rack bars engaged by the upper ends of the wires, and an adjusting device operating to tighten said wires.

7. In a-trousers appliance, the combination with a support having cross-pieces connected thereto, of an operating rod rotatably mounted in said support, devices adjustable in' their angular relation to said cross-pieces and connecting the cross-pieces and operating rod, and wires connected to said devices and engaging the trousers to effect the creasing and stretching of the trousers.
