TVhen the puff is not to be used the arms 8 are secured together by the catch 9. but when occasion arises for using the puli? the catch is disengaged and the rims 8 moved to the position shown in Fig. 2. The pocketbook may be filled or emptied at this time, and in either case the act of moving apart the rims 8 serves to open out the puff, as will be readily understood. The other part of the pocketbook then. serves as a handle. iVhcn the pull is not in use it is only necessary to release the catch formed by the knobs 4 to move apart the rims 3 to allow coins or other things to be inserted into the pocketbook to be received upon the false bottom 6.

From the above description it will be seen that I have produced a. simple and convenient article intended for the convenience of women. The invention can be carried about like an ordinary purse and can be used at an instants notice.

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent:

1. An improvement of the kind described comprising a body having a portion for forming a receiving or storage space, an oppcsitelydocated portion for forming a powder puff. and means for covering and uncovering the said powder puff.

2. In an improvement of the kind described, the combination of a body comprising a pair of sections, a pair of rims secured to each section. one of said rims being secured to the top edge and the other rim being secured to the bottom edge, and the ends of said rimsextending along the sides of said section and being pivotally secured scri )tion. 2 l

Those metal rims are pivoted to each other upon pins located about the middle of the sides of the pocketbook. and these rims are further provided with interlocking knobs at, so that they can be closed together. The lower part of the sections or halves 1 forming the body contains a lining 5 which forms a false bottom (3 and is particularly shown in Fig. i. The under side of this false bottom is provided with a pntf-forming material 7. which covers the under side of the bottom. as shown. and the edges of the lining coin ride with the edges of the halves 1 of the body portion along the lower parts of the sides and bottom and are joined to metal rims one of which is used for each of the sections 1. and which are pivoted to each other and to the rims 2 by means of the pins above mentioned. The lower rims 8 can be secured together by means of an ordinary to each other and to the rims of the other section. means .t'or securing the top rims and the bottom rims of the two sections together. and a web inside of said body uniting said seetions forming; a partition or false bottom. said web having mitt-forming material cared to the lower face thereof.

In an improvement of the kind described, a pocketbook hating a lining eX- tending over the interior surface adjacentthe bottom thereof. the upper edge of said lining; being (:onnerted by a web forming a partition or 'talse bottom. said lining being divided along the bottom of the poolzethook, said partition and said lining having putt forming: material on the surface thereof and means for distendine; the lower part of the pocketbook and said lining when the putt is to be need.

4. A pocketbook having a web dividing the interior thereo't into two parts, putttorining material: contained in said pocketbook on' one side of the web, and means :tor distending the sides of the pocket-book on the said. side of the web when the putt is to be used.
