Description

W. W. WOOLEY. MOSQUITO SCREEN FRAME.
,809. Patented June 28, 1870.
cc PHoruu-mo. WASHYNGTOA u c finned sea-w WALTER W. WOOLEY,
OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
Letters Patent No. 104,809, dated June 28, 1870.
IMPRQ V ED MOSQUITO-SCREEN FRAME.
The Schedule sefen'ed to in these Letters Patentvand making part of the name I, WALTER'W. WooLEY, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented certain Improve- -ments;in Mosquito-Screens, of which the following is' .a specification.
The nature of my invention consists in the constructionof a cheap, simple,.and.efficientframehvork,
for reception of a wire, cotton, linen, or other net-- work,'so that, when the fabric is placed in the frame, and the frame placed in theidoor or window-frame of a house, it will allow the air to pass through forvent-ilation, but will exclude mosquitoes and othert-roublesome insects from the house. I v
For this mosquito-net frame I take a piece of square iscantling, and sink a groove on theface,for reception of the netting and tongue or stayrod. I next cut the piece up into the desired lengths, mitering the ends, and I connect the mitered ends by one or more metallic staples, by which means I produce a'simple, cheap, and eflicient frame for reception of the mosquito-net, as I will further explain'by reference to the accompanying drawing, in which Figure 1 represents the face of the frame, -showing the netting and stay-rod in place, and the miter-joints secured by the metallic staples;
Figure 2, a view of opposite side of frame;
Figure 3, a transverse section of flame; and 4 Figure 4, a section through one of the miter-joints and staples.
In the said drawing- A indicates the mosquito-net frame, having a groove, B, on its face, for reception of the ,net C and tongue or stay-rods -D.
E 19,830., are-the plain miters, braced and held together by the metallic staples F F, and forming the miter-joints G of the frame.
I am aware that it is not new to connect the sides of a mosquito-frame b'y tenon and mortise, by screws and metallic angle-brackets, ,which construction is considered objectionable because of its expense, and
the desire for a more simple and cheap contrivance suggested to me the mosquito-net frame, composed of plain miters, connected by metallic staples, forming a good miter-joint and a cheap, substantial frame. as
set forth.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by- Letters Patent, is'- The frame A, composed of the sides, grooved'to receive the net or material 0, and the tongues or stayrods'D D, and united by the miter-joints G G, fastened with the staples F F, substantially as herein specified.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my signatnrethis 14th day of May,1870.
WALTER \V. WOOLE-Y.
