To all whom it may concern:
I-LBocK, a citizenof the United, States, and a resident of the city of New York, Corona,.borough of Queens, in the county of Queens and State of-New- York, have invented a new and Improved Non-Refillable Bottle, of which the following is a full, clear, and, exact description.
This invention 'relatesto improvements in bottle stoppers, and particularly to what are known as non-refillable bottles, and has for an object to provide a structure which will permit the ready, flow of fluid from the bot tle orother receptacle, and willreslst refill- Y ing of the bottle.

A still further object ,of the invention is to provide an improved stopper structure designed to resist refilling of the bottle to which it is connected, formed so as to prevent a tool or other instrument to be inserted sufliciently far to raise the Yvalve structure forming part ofthe stopper whereby tampering with the stopper will not in any way affect its efliciency unlessthe stopper is broken to a. greater or less extent. This structure is formed -with a freely reciprocating valve member actuated by'gravity and also'by the flow of liquid in either direction, the flowof liquid in one direction causingthe valve to be unseated for allowing the fluid to flow from the bottle, and-fluid flowing in the opposite di-' rection causing the valve tobe seated against the action of gravity, whereby liquld is'prevented from entering the bottle. Referring to the accompanying drawings by numerals, 1 indicates a; bottleof any desired kind, having a neck 2. .The neck 2is preferably formed with a beveled opening orbore 3 enlarged at 4, wherebyan ofiset or shoulder 5 is provided. A plurality of,

This sleeve is designed to receive a conical shaped valve member/r13 formed with apertures 14: and an annular flange 15. Theconical part ofthe' valve member 13 is adapted to fit against the inner part of the sleeve lOjwhen the bottle is in an upright position,-a ;s,sh0wn in Fig. 1, and the annular flange 15 is designed I to rest against the upper surface ;of' the flange 12. When the conicalshaped valve 13 is in the position shown in Fig. 1, the bot tially conical shaped-.memberi20., The mem ber 20 is provided with an aperture 21 arranged centrally thereof and of a size pref- Qrably slightly less than the center portion 22 of the disk 17. This will prevent any tool or other implement from being forced past the disk 17 into contact with the valve member 13. The member 24 is provided with a restricted opening 25 which merges into an enlarged opening 26, in which may be forced a cork or other stopper 27. This cork or stopper 27 is designed to be'applied in the usual manner. The upper end of the member 24: is provided wit-h a flange 28, beneath which is positioned a resilient washer 29. The washer 29 is designed to be compressed when the member 24 is being arranged in position so as to permit the spring 7 to snap into the sockets 6 and thereby lock the member 24 andthe remaining parts of the device correctly in position. The washers 5 and 29 being of somewhat resilient material will take up lost motion and cause a substantially tight fit for all the parts, with the exception of course of the valve member 13 which is permitted a free back and forth movement.
In operation, after the bottle has been filled the structure shown in Fig. 3 is forced into the bore 3 of the neck 2 until it assumes the position shown in Fig. 1. The stopper 27 is then applied and the operation is complete. When it is desired to empty or remove some of the contents from the bottle 1, the bottle is inverted as shown in Fig. 2, which will cause the valve member 13 to move down by gravity to substantially the position shown in Fig. 2 assisted by the pressure of the fluid. This will of course allow the fluid to pass through the apertures 11 and 14: and also through the slots in the plate 17 and the aperture 21 in member 20. The fluid from the bottle is permitted to flow freely as long as the bottle is inverted but upon moving the bottle to substantially an upright position, the valve member 13 will reseat itself automatically. In case it should be attempted to force fluid into the bottle 1 the valve member 13 will reseat itself by gravity, or if the bottle is in verted will reseat itself by the pressure of the fluid acting in the chamber 30 so that the fluid will not be able to pass through the sleeve 10. In constructing the various parts of the device the same may be made of any desired material but preferably the parts, except the washers, are made from metal and aluminum is found to be very desirable. As is well known, aluminum is com paratively light so that if the valve member 13 for instance was made of aluminum, the same would not float but would be easily actuated by any fluid attempting to pass into the bottle 1.
Having thus described my invention I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent 1. In a device of the character described,
the combination with a bottle formed with a neck having a bore extending therethrough, of a valve structure arranged in said bore, said valve structure being formed with a frusto-conical shaped seat having'a plurality of substantially radiating apertures, and a cone normally fitting said seat with one end projecting from the open end thereof, said conebeing formed with an annular flange resting on the upper end of said seat when the cone is in a closed position, and with a plurality of radiating apertures for permitting the flow of fluid from one side of the cone to the other when the cone is unseated,
guiding means engaging the flange on said cone for guiding the cone in its movement, a guarding member arranged above said guiding means, and means for holding the guarding member, guiding means, and valve structure in position.
2. In a device of the character described, the combination with a bottle formed with a neck having a bore therein provided with an annular shoulder, of a frusto-conical shaped sleeve formed with an annular flange and a plurality of apertures, said annular flange being positioned over said shoulder and adapted to be supported thereby, a conical shaped valve member fitting into said sleeve and normally closing said apertures in the open end of the sleeve, guiding means for guiding said valve member, and means arranged above said guiding means for protecting said valve member.

In a device of the character described, the combination with a bottle formed with a neck having a bore extending therethrough, of a valve structure arranged in said bore, said valve structure being formed with a frusto-conical shaped seat having a plurality of substantially radiating apertures, and a cone normally fitting said seat with one end projecting through the open end thereof, said cone being formed with a plurality of radiating apertures arranged in a different plane from the apertures in said seat when said cone is resting on the seat, said apertures being designed to permit the flow of fluid from one side of the cone to the other when the cone is unseated, and guarding means arranged above said valve structure.

In a device of the character described, the combination with a bottle formed with a neck having a bore extending therethrough, of a valve structure arranged in said bore, said valve structure comprising a frustoconical shaped seat having a plurality of apertures in the side walls thereof, and a cone having apertures in the side walls thereof fitting said seat, one end projecting from the open end thereof, the apertures in said seat and in said cone being arranged in a diflerent plane when the cone is resting on said sezit, said cone being formed with anan In festimony whereof I have signed my nular flange overlapping the upper edge of WALTER H.
