the inner portion of the plate is held at a sufficient distance above the bottom 14 to prevent matches from flowing out of the opening 16, and when in its inner position, the rib prevents matches from flowing out. It will, therefore, be evident that as the slide is left in the position shown in Fig. 4, there is no danger of matches coming out of the receptacle and being wasted. If it is desired to disassemble this box, the feeding plate can be very easily withdrawn through the opening 15 and the delivery plate can be drawn to its outer position and then by raising the forward end, can be drawn over the flange 18, thus permitting the entire delivery plate to be drawn out of the opening. It should be noted that under ordinary circumstances the flange 18 is sufficient to prevent the delivery plate from being drawn out beyond a desired amount, thus preventing any danger of the delivery plate accidentally slipping out of the receptacle and becoming lost.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new is 1. A match safe comprising a body portion having its bottom carried outwardly to form a support, the forward end of the support being bent to form an upwardly ex tending flange, said body portion being provided with an inlet opening in its upper portion and with an outlet opening at the lower edge of the front wall, a feeding plate mounted in said body portion, a delivering plate slidably mounted upon the bottom of said body portion and provided at its inner and outer ends with oppositely disposed flanges and bent intermediate its length to form a receiving pocket and an abutment flange limiting the inward movement of said delivering plate, the flange at the outer edge of the delivering plate contacting with the flange at the outer edge of said support to normally limit the outward movement of said delivering plate, said delivering plate being formed of resilient material whereby it may be raised over the flange at the outer edge of said support to permit the removal of said delivering plate from said body portion.

2. A match safe comprising a receptacle having an inlet opening and having an outlet opening at the lower edge of its forward wall, a support extending from the bottom of said receptacle, a delivering plate slidably mounted upon the bottom of said receptacle and upon said support, and having its inner end bent to form a depending flange and its outer end bent to form an upwardly extending flange, said plate being bent intermediate its length to form a trough, and an upwardly extending flange in the outer edge of the trough forming a closure for the opening in the bottom of said receptacle when said plate is in the inner position, and a feeding plate mounted in said receptacle.
