Be it known that I,"BERT A. citizen of the United States, residing Davenport, in the countyof Scott and Stateof Iowa, have invented'certain new and useful Improvements in Operating Chairs or Tables, of which the following is a spec'i- This invention relates to an improvement in operating chairs or tables, designed-particularly for use by chiropractors, osteo-- t on, adapted to overlie the top paths, masseurs and the like. I v The object-of the present invention is the provision of a chair or table ofthis charao ter which is so constructed that it can be adjusted for patients of various sizes, and can also be readily and easily adjusted to bring the patient in any position desired by the practitioner.
'Other objects ofthe' invention will be apparent from the detailed-description; hereinafter when read in connection with the accompanyin'g drawings forming a part hereof, wherein a' convenient embodiment of the invention -'is illustrated, and wherein like characters of references refer to similar parts in theseveral views.

Referring now more particularly to the drawings, A designates the supporting member ofthe chair which comprises a fiat supporting base which isadapted to be secured to the floor or other suitable support, and upon which is supported a cylinder A. B designates a piston which is adapted to move within the cylinder A.
Communicating. with the lower portion .of the cylinder A is a pipe through which air or other fluid under pressure is adapted to be admitted to the lower portion of the cylinder A when it is desired to elevate the piston B therein. The pipe C also serves as an exhaust pipe to permit the escape of the air or other fluid from the cylinder A when it is desired to effect the loweranother position, is adapted somewhat below the foot of the piston therein. To control the admisslonof airto and from the cylinder, a three-way valve is interposed in the pipe C, which valve, when inone position, is adapted to place the cylinder A in communication with asuitable source of compressed air orother fluid under pressure, and when in to connect the cylinder A with a suitable exhaust pipe.
D designates the frame of the table or chair which is, when in its horizontal posiof the cylinder A, said frame being pivotally connected 7 adjacent the foot thereof to one side of the upper portlo-n of the cylinder A, so that the frame can, when desired, be turned to substantially a vertical position.

ends of said sidebars being upturned to provide supports for a foot board E which is rigidly secured thereto in any .suitable manner.
