To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, GLENN D. GRANT, a citizen ofthe UnitedStates, residing at Salt Lake City, in the county of Salt Lake, State of Utah, have invented new and useful Improvements vin Stove Attachments, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to heat delecting appliances for use in connection with gas burners.

Among the objects of the invention are 1. To economize the fuel consumption. 2. To provide a warming plate upon which dishes may be kept warm without the waste of lighting the large burners of t-he oven. 3.

o provide such an attachment as will enable the operator to use one burner in place of several for ordinary purposes. 4. To provide a means by which the flame and heat from one burner may be deflected and used at another point to heat any cooking utensil after the same llame and heat has been used at its starting point for the same purpose. f

My `invention consists among other things, in the novel construction of the device which consists ofa rectangular flat box, with or without rounded corners; near one end of the bottom of the said box is an opening cut in a star-shaped manner, with the points of the star bent downward, so as to lit between the rows of gas jets in the gas burner beneath it, and form a kind of a flue to direct the heated gases upward; immediately above the said star shaped opening there is a hole in the top of the box, and at the opposite end there is also an opening in the top of the box.

With the foregoing and other objects in view, the invention consists of the details of construction and in the arrangement and combination of parts hereafter more fully set forth and claimed.

In describing the invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings which are hereby made a part of -this specification.

of construction is as follows :-A piece of sheet metal is bent or any metal cast into the shape of a box, with the four sides thereof having their upper edges bent over at right angles to provide a flange to which to rivet or otherwise attach the uppe side of the box. At one end a hole is cut in the bottom of the box, the incisions being serrate shaped and the said serrate projections being bent downward so as to fit between the rows of jets in a gas burner; immediately above the hole there is cut a The manner hole in the top of the box over which a cookingutensil may be set thus getting thefull benefit of the heat arising through the bottom hole. When nothing is over the said upper hole and it is desired to use the heat coming from the other end, a cover is placed over the said mentioned hole in the upper side and the heat is deflected either by the said cover or by the cooking utensil so that it passes to the other end of the box where Ihave provided a vent or chimney to create a draft; above this vent is placed a shelf on a bracket ing of the said vent s0 that the heat in passing thro-ugh the said vent will strike on the bottom of the said shelf-heating the same as it passes out of the said vent and thus providing another place upon which to put cooking utensils or articles to be kept warm.

In practice I find thatthere is great economy in the consumption of gas by the use of this appliance.
