,The space. between the arms nl :l might 'be wider at the top than at the bottom, to receive a corresponding `bevel vupon the back plate, and this partially removes the Weight of the bracket from the lugs dd, and, if made in this manner, vthe socket 'i may be dispensed with, asthe bracket will be kept vertical by this means.

rlihese fastenings can Vb e made very cheap, as they require no finishing' after being cast, and the bracket used with such fastenings requires no further labor or expenseas the'recess in the back plate, and also the lugs upon the same, are cast with the bracket.
