I MPRQVEMENT IN GOOSE-NECK FOR HANGING CARRIAGE-SPRINGS.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same To all whom it may concern:
Be itvknown that I, STEPHEN M. Winn, of New Haven, in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented a new Improvement in Goose-Neck for Hangin Carriage-Springs; and I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connect-ion with the accompanying drawings and the letters of reference marked thereon, to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, and which said drawings constitute part of this specification, and represent in Figure 1, a side view showing my improvement.

This invention relates to an improvement in the article of manufacture known as goose-necks, its use being an arm-to which the side springs of the carriage are attached.
Heretofore these articles have been made as shown in fig. 2, and unless madeof very great strength and of wrought metal, are liable to settle or bend down by use.
To overcome this ditiiculty, and enable me to produce the article from cast metal, thereby greatly cheapening as well as strengthening the construction, is the object of my invention, which consists in combining with the goose-neck a support between the base and head, formed so as not to interfere with the free work- .ing of the spring.

I claim as my invention- As an article of manufacture, the goose-neck constructed as herein described, consisting of the brace A, head and neck B, and brace C, between the head and base, as and for the purpose specified.
