The article is designed forA attachment to a walt and is shaped up from msingle piece of resilient sheet metal.
The details of the invention will he better understood by reference to the accompanying drawing, wherein` Figure l is a perspective View of the .-;tandard with the hook, pad and pencil in place; Fig. 2 is a sectional plan showing the clips under which theA oaek ot the pad is held; Fig. 3 is a Sectional elevation through the center of the standard.
ln the construction showna 'the article is ,stamped or preesed'trom a single piece ot a vtlat hase l, which can he placed directlyv against the wall o't' the room and there held hy ecrewrs` or tacks paasingithrough the central holes 2 and 3. This tlat bane is providedV with longitudinal swages it and 5 located near the edges ot thebase and 'extending almost to the bottoni thereof. The extreme lower edge ot the hase is cut away at. 6 to torni a plurality of integral projections T and which are curled up `to form a ledge or pocket in which a pencil 9 may he placed. The opening- 6 permits ready removal ot the pencil and the curled projections T and 8 stiften the lower portion of the fiat hase and give it rigidity.
Struck up `from the center ot hase l, is an integral tongue l0 having a shoulder ll on which a hook 1Q may rest, said tongue being lient upward to iorln a platform on which .a pad may he lsupported. The tongue l0 1s sutciently resilient to press against the eide ot' the hook and therebyT yieldingly hold ity in position. Two ears 18 and 14 are struck untrom the platform and extend horizontiilly toward iine another a"nd at such distance 'rein the tace ot the platt'orm as vto admit the cardboard back ot a Scratch-pad l5. Two Vertical Swages 16 and 17 extend l l l l l r t l l l holder heinor also arranced to downward near the edges of said platform and Serve not only to stillen the platform, hut also as barriers or retaining walls for the scratch-pad. These swages entend entiret)r acroahl the shoulder ll and a short, distance down the fiat hase of the Standard, thereby giving' to the tongue` as a whole. marked stitneas and resiliency. The longi-l tudinal swages l and 5, in addition to stiftening the structure, have the function ot holding hook 12 away from the tiat hack ot' the standard so that it may he easily grasped in the fingers tor removal, and so that, during its removal, it. will not catch on the screw or tack normallyv placed through hole 2 to hold the AStandard against the wall.
l,Vhat .l claim as new hy 'Letters Patent of the United States l. standard comprising a dieci" metal hase, said hase haring itsl lower end curled up into a ledge which stitl'cns V aid hznre andy is adapted tor use as a. pencil receptacle` and a tongue integral with ald hase and hentoutward to form a ahoulder on which a hook ma)v he carried and bent upward to torni a plattcrm on which a pad may he supported. and a pair ot ears Struck 'trom Said platform and located at either side thereof, said ears being i daplcd for engage ment, with the cardboard. hack oil a paper pad. v
A standard comprising a Adieet metal haue, Said hase haring its4 lower end curled up into a xatiitlening ledge whereon a pencil may he placed, and a tongue integral with said hase and lient outward and Iahaped to torni a shoulder on which a hook ma)y be supported. leaid tongue, heing heut upward to yieldingly engage the side of Said hook and to iorm a plattform tor the support ot' a. ewratch-pad, and. awages at thel Sidee of said platform serriceahle as retaining walls for Said pad, said Sung@ extending from Said platform across said ,Shoulder to the iat hack of the standard.
3.
