This' invention relates to improvements in ticket holders, and particularly to holders for`tick`ets or pay 'checks' designed to A.be

tioned on top of the pad and to be pressed against the pad by springs carried byupstanding studs projecting from the body part of the slide. By this construction and arrangement the tickets or checks 'may be torn vat any point as the slide' may be 'moved hack and forth freely, and as the presser bar continually presses against the pad'regardless of the thickness-thereof.

The eccentric member 7 is formed with an 'extend ing lip 9 which is. adapted'to be moved over and rest against the upper-end ot the pad, whereby the eccentric is locked' against fun ther movement in one direction, is properly clamped in position. The slide Q is designed to be freely moved between the screw 4. and the 'eccentric 7 under ordinary conditions, but when it is desired to remove the slide screw 4 may be removed and the slide easily slipped ofvthc end of the back 1. Slide 2 is made with a body portion 12 builtup of a plurality of transversely extending bars 13 and 14, and a'` plurality'ot' longitudinally extending bars 15 and 16. Bars 15 and 16 are formed with turned over portions 17 and 18 which define zruido ways for holding the slide 2 on back 1.' The transverse or cross bar 13 extends a short distance beyond the sides ot back 1 for accommodating' studs 19 and 20. The presser bar 23 is also provided with a thumb operating stud or grippingmember 27 by which 'the presser bar may be moved longitudinally of the studs l2) and Q0 against the action of the springs arranged thereon, and also by which the entire slide 2 may be adjusted longitudinally ojl: the back l.

Vf hen in use the holder may be positioned at any desired point. ln case the holder is nsed by waiters in a` cat(l where the same is especially applicable, the Waiter will niark on the check the number ot' persons being Served, and a iter having taken the order will tear ott the bottom partI of the check up to the amount ot purchase, so that the patron may follow the directions at the bottom ot' the coupon, namely to pay amount on top oit the coupon. lf desired the Waiter may hand the remaining part of the check to the che` or some other party for acting as a check or system by which an accurate account may be kept of Whathas been served. and the amount of money collected. The check is provided with the number et' the Waiter at the top, and at the bottom, so that both the cashier and the Chet' will have a record of each order served by 'each waiter. It will. ol course, he. understood that other forms o'lchecks could be used with the imvproved holder but 'for the purpose of illustration the one just described is shown in order to more clearly bring; out the advantages of the holder.

lVhat I claim is:

'1. ln a device ot the character described, a bark, means tor clamping a pad there-on, said means comprising a` pair oi upstanding` ears, :in eccentric member journaled in said ears and arranged to press against Said pad when moved tofonc position, and a locking thumb member designed to engage the pad slide for resiliently pressing said presser bar against said pad, said means last mentioned` comprising' stads acting as guides for the presser bar and springs carried by the guides.
