ATTACHMENT FOB, BATH-TUBS.

To all whom it may concern Be it known that 1, MANo Jnrrnnson, a subject of the Emperor of Austria-Hungary, and a resident of Hartford, in the county of Hartford and State of Connecticut, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Attachments for Bath-Tubs, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to the class of de vices for producing a shower in a bath tub, and the objects of my invention, among others, is to produce a device of this class, simple in construction and convenient and effective in operation.

One form of device embodying my invention and in the use of which the objects above set out as well as others may be attained is illustrated in the accompanying drawings in which:

Figure 1 is a perspective view partially in section of a bath tub provided with my improved shower. Fig. 2 is a detail view showing a modified form of adjustable spout. Fig. 3 1s a detail v1ew showing a modified form of attachment for the supporting tube or bar. Fig. 4 is a detail View showing the arrangement of the sheaves.

In the accompanying drawings the numeral 5 denotes a bath tub of any ordinary form and construction having the usual roll 6 around the top edge. Clips 7 are formed to hook under the edge of the roll or lip formed thereby, loops 8 being secured to these clips. Supporting straps 9 are secured to the loops and a supporting tube or bar 10 is held by the straps, as shown in Fig. 1 of the drawings.

A sleeve 11 is mounted to slide upon the tube, a neck 12 projecting from the sleeve in position to receive a holder 13 that is slidable in the neck, the fit of the holder within the neck however being such as to provide sufficient friction to retain the holder in any position to which it may be moved. A socket 14: is located at the end of the holder through which socket a spout 15 extends, this spout being curved at its end and having a sprinkler 16 secured thereto.

A guide rod 17 is secured at its ends to hangers 18 supported by and depending from the tube or bar 10 and a guide 30 secured to the lower end of the spout is freely slidable on this guide rod.

A flexible tube 19 connects the spout 15 with a faucet or supply 20, the latter being of any suitable form and construction. A

supplemental faucet 21 is located below the faucet 20, this supplemental faucet being included in the connection between the spout 15 and the main faucet 20 and having a foot operated valve 22 located in position to be operated by the foot of the bather.

Sheaves are mounted on the supporting bar 10, cords 24 extending over these sheaves and terminating in handles one end of each cord being secured to the sleeve 11. Loops 26 are mounted on the guide rod 17 these loops also receiving the cords 24:. From this construction it will be seen that by pulling upon one handle the spout and sprinkler will be moved in one direction, and by pulling upon the other handle the spout and sprinkler will be moved in the opposite direction.

In the form of device shown in Fig. 2 the sleeve 11 has an arm 31 forked atits end, the forks being united by a pin 82. A rack bar 83 having teeth 34- extends between the forked ends of the arm, the teeth being arranged to engage the pin 32. This affords means for supporting the spout 15 in its various positions of adjustment, the other construction being as hereinbefore described.

In the construction shown in Fig. 3 of the drawings a clip 36 is formed from sheet metal and is provided with knuckles 37. A supporting strap 38 having knuckles 39 is formed for attachment to the clip 36 as by means of a pin -10. The knuckles and pin are preferably round, and a socket 41 is formed at the end of the strap 38 for the reception of the support 10. This construction is of use in various places and especially where the lip of the tub is located close against the wall and where it would be difficult to place the assembling strap and clip in position. In such instances the clip may be inserted'from the end of the tub and slid along the lip to its proper position, and then the straps 38 placed in position and secured by the pin 10.

While I have shown and described herein one form of apparatus embodying my invention, this may be changed to a greater or lesser degree and yet be within the spirit and intent of the invention and I do not therefore limit my invention to the exact construction herein shown and described.

I claim- 1. In a bath tub attachment, clips removably secured to the edge of the tub, loops flexibly secured to said clips, straps secured to said loops, a supporting bar held by said straps, a sleeve slidable upon said bar, a spout supported by said sleeve, and a connection between said spout and the supply to the tub.

In a bath tub attachment, a supporting bar extending lengthwise of the tub, a sleeve slidable longitudinally upon said bar, a holder movably mounted on the sleeve, a spout supported by said holder, and a connection between the spout and the supply to the tub.

3. An attachment for a bath tub including a supporting bar extending lengthwise of the tub, a sleeve slidable longitudinally upon said bar, a holder longitudinally m0vable upon the sleeve, a spout supported by the holder, and a connection between the spout and the supply to the tub.

4. A bath tub attachment including a bar, a sleeve mounted upon the bar, a neck projecting from the sleeve, a holder extending into said neck and movable longitudinally therein, a spout supported by said holder, and a connection between said spout and the supply to the tub.

5. A. bath tub attachment including a bar, a sleeve slidably mounted upon the bar, a neck projecting from the sleeve a holder extending into said neck and movable longitudinally therein, a spout supported by said holder, and a connection between said spout and the supply to the tub.

6. An attachment for a bath tub includ ing a supporting bar, a sleeve mounted on the bar, a guide bar, a spout supported by said sleeve and guided along the guide bar, and a connection bet-ween said spout and the supply to the tub.

7. A bath tub attachment including a supporting bar, a sleeve slidably mounted on the bar, a guide bar, a spout supported by said sleeve and guided by said guide bar and slidable along the latter, and a connection between the spout and the supply to the tub.

8. A bath tub attachment including a bar, means for supporting the bar, a sleeve slidably mounted upon the bar, a spout supported by said sleeve, a guide rod, a guide secured to the spout and in engagement with saidarod, and a connection between said spout and t-he supply to the tub.

9. A bath tub attachment including a bar, asleeve slidably mounted upon the bar, a spout supported by said sleeve, a guide rod suspended from said bar, a guide secured to the spout and through which said bar extends, and a connection between the spout and the supply to the tub.

10. A bath tub attachment including a bar, a sleeve slidably mounted on the bar, a spout supported by the sleeve but having movement independently thereof, a guide rod, a guide secured to the spout and in engagement with the rod, and a connection between said spout and the supply to the tub.

11. In a bath tub attachment, clips removably secured to the edge of the tub,lo0ps flexibly secured to said clips, straps secured to said loops, a supporting bar suspended from said straps within the tub, a sleeve freely slidable upon said bar, a spout supported by said sleeve, and a connection between said spout and the supply to the tub.
