Description

G. S. DAVISA NOZZLE HOLDER APPLICATION FILED JUNE21909.

GEORGE S. DAVIS, OF WORCESTER, MASSACHUSETTS, ASSIGNOR TO PARKER WIRE GOODS COMPANY, OF WORCESTER, MASSACHUSETTS, A CORPORATION 0F MASSA- CHUSETTS.
NOZZLE-HOLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Oct 8, 1912.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE S. DAVIS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Worcester, in the county of Worcester, State of Massachusetts, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Nozzle- Holders, of which the following is a specication, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings. i
This invention relates to water distribution, but more particularly to nozzle holders.
The object of this invention is to provide a simple, efficient, and inexpensive device which may be used to support the nozzle of a garden hose.
One feature of this device is a holder provided with resilient gripping means to permit the hose being pressed therein, or removed therefrom without the necessity of loosening any screws or bolts, or unscrewing any joints.
Another feature is the means whereby the holder may be tilted to permit the nozzle being setat-any desired angle.
One embodiment ot the invention is shown in the drawings in which Figure 1 1s a perspective view of the invention complete. Fig. 2, front View of same. Fig. 8, side view of same.
In the drawings, the nozzle holder 5 is secured to the standard 6 by the bolt 7. Thisto facilitate the placing of the nozzle within the holder. The extremities of the holder wire form two eyes 11 and 1Q, which loop the bolt 7, and the standard is also provided' with an eye 13 which is preferablyset between the eyes 11 and 12, so that a tightening of the bolt binds these together and maintains the holder at the angle relative to the standard at which it is set. This bolt 7 is fitted with a thumb nut 14 to allow the holder to be readily adjusted. To alter the angle of the holder, it is only necessary to slightly loosen the thumb nut 14.
A great number of modifications of this device will readily occur to a person skilled in the art, and it should be clearly understood that the invention is not limited to theV embodiment here shown and described.
Vhat I'claim as my invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:- l
In a device of the class described, the combination of a nozzle holder comprisinfr a single piece of wire bent to form a plura ity of loops in alinement to receive the nozzle \nd having its extremities bent to form eyeets, a supporting standard adapted to have its lower extremity forced into the ground, and having its upper extremity forming an eyelet, and a bolt passing through the eyelets on the holder and the standard to lock these parts together.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature presence of two witnesses. A
GEORGE S. DAVIS.
