CLARENCE \V. .DAVOCK, OF DETROIT, MICHIGAN, ASSIGNOR TO DETROIT STEEL METALLIC WINDQWJRAMEL Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Oct. 8, 1912.
Application filed September 22,i1910. Serial No. 583.233.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that. I, Ora-unmet W. llwocn, a citizen of the United States of i\mei.'ica, residing at Detroit, "in the county of \Vayne and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Metallic /Vindow-Frames, of which the following is av specification, reference being bad therein to the accompanying drawings.
The invention relates to metallic window frames of that type in which the sash and its division bars are formed of i'netal.
The invention consists in the means employodv for securing the sash frame. to the masonry as more fully hereinafter set forth.
In the tlL'flWlHgS ,-Flgl1ft) l is an elevatirm of the metallic window frame; Fig. 2 is an enlarged horizontal section tlu-rethrough showing the manner of securing the sash to the masonry.
A is the sash frame preferably formed of channel bars and having a projecting flange B for fori'ning the seat for the glass pane, C are sash cross bars.
For securing the sash in position I provide anchors engageable with the side bars of the sash and having a portion which may be embedded in the masonry. These anchors are preferably fin-med of angle bars D, one flange E of which projects outward While the flange F is adapted to tit within the channel of the bars A. There is also preferably formed a groove or rabbet G which receives one flange of the channel bar and Forms a llush joint with the outer face thereof. During the construction. of the masonry bars 1) are set with the flange E projecting into a recess and suitably secured as by embedding in cemel'lt. The bars D upon opposite sides of the window are properly lined up and are spaced to receive the sash frame. The sash may then at any time he engaged with the anchors 1) being positioned by the engagement of the llange I with the channel of the bar and being sccurcd by screws such as H.
What 1 claim as my invention is:
In a metallic window sash, a side barhaving a shoulder or flange on one side thereof to receive the glass, and provided with separated flanges on the other side, of an anchor therefor, comprising an anglev bar, one member of which is secured to and rests against the face of the side bar between the outside flanges, and the other member of which forms a complementary"extension of one of the outside flanges and is notched or gained to receive such side bar-flanges.
In testimony whereof I atlix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
