To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, NATHANIEL T. COFFEY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Niagara Falls, in the county of Niagara and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Ironing-Boards, of-

which the following is a specification.

The general object of the invention is to support an ironing board by a tripod, the legs of which are adapted to be folded on the board when the same is not in-use and to automatically interlock when moved outwardly from the board.

Other objects will appear and be better understood from the following description taken. in connection with the accompanying drawings, in which,

5 indicates the board which may be of any desired material and contour and 6 a supplemental board which is of reduced size and when in operative position is supported in spaced relation to the upper face of the board 5 by means of a cleat 7 secured to the lower face thereof,

8 indicates a two-jointed strap for connecting the supplemental board to the board 5, whereby, the said supplemental board may be adjusted over the upper face of the board 5 as previously described or, when not in use may be folded over the opposite face of the board 5 and secured bya latch 9 pivoted to the board 5 all of which is clearly shown in Figs. 1 and 2.

, 18 indicates a strap which connects the free'end portions of the legs 11 and 12 and forms a carrier for the third leg 14 when folding the said legs frornthe position shown in Fig. 1 to that shown in Fig. 2, where it will be seen that the strap also provides a keeper for the leg 14. The said strap18 also prevents displacement of the third leg, when the legs 11 and-12are swung outwardly from the positionshown in Fig. 2 and toward the opposite end of the board, and thereby holds the said leg 14 in such position as to permit of its being moved until'the cross pin 16 abut-s the pins 17 In order to prevent the device from toppling while in use, I preferably form the legs 11 and 12 with ofiset portions 19.

. Alt-hough I have shown and described one embodiment of my invention it is to be understood that I am not to be limited to the specific construction and arrangement of parts since various changes may be made, within the scope of the appended claims without departing from the spirit or sacri-. ficing any of the advantages of the invention. What I claim as'new is:

A foldable tripod support for ironing boards, having two legs spaced apart and. hinged at one end to the central portion of the board so as to swing longitudinally thereof, and a, third leg extending longitudinally of the board and through the space between the first-named legs and hinged at one end to one end portion of the board, a cross pin carried by the said third leg and pins projecting from the first-named legs and arranged so as to form abutments for I free end portion of the third leg during the outward movement of the latter and when all of said legs are folded onto the board.
