ANDREW J. FOSTER, OF NORTHBEND, /VASHINGTON.
IRONING-TABLE.
To all whom it may concern.'
Be it known that I, ANDREW J. FOSTER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Northbend, county of King, and State of Washington, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Ironing-Tables, of which the following is a specication.
r1`his invention relates to ironing tables.
My object is to provide an ironing table of novel construction having foldable and detachable parts, whereby it may be brought into compact condition for storage or transportation; to provide an ironing table wherein the ironing board is supported in a novel manner and is of improved construction; and to provide a novel sleeve-board, complete in itself, which is associated with the ironing table in an improved manner, together with other novel instrumentalities and combinations of part-s as fully set forth hereinafter.
In the accompanying drawings Figure 1 is a perspective view of the complete invention with the sleeve-board in position for use, dotted lines showing the folded position of the sleeve-board; Fig. 2, a cross section showing the device for supporting the ironing board and the detachable strips therefor; 3, a detail of one of the detachable strips; Fig. 4, a cross section showing how the ironing board is secured to the table; Fig. 5, a detail of the springs; and Fig. 6,- a detail of the sleeve-board when used separately.
The ironing table 1 is of box-frame construction, being provided with legs 2 which are detachably secured by screws or bolts 3, whereby the legs may be removed when desired.
Surmounting the table and detachably resting thereon and held by pins 1, is the box-frame 5 constituting the support for the ironing board 6, which, together with the box 5, are detachably secured to the table by bolts 7, whereby the box 5 and the board 6 can be removed when desired.
The ironing board 6 is provided with supplemental edge strips 8 having dowels 9 received in the edges of the board, and these strips are used when it is desired to widen the board for any purpose. The under sides Specification of Letters Patent.

of the strips 8 are provided with grooves or slots 10 which receive pins 11 of a supplemental support 12 which rests on the table 1 and supports the free part of the iro-ning board and also the strips 8, besides holding the strips against detachment from the board.
The sleeve-board 13 is hinged to the head of the ironing board 6 at 14, and connected to the sleeve-board is a foot piece or base 15 whose end abuts the end of the table 1 when the sleeve board is in extended position, as shown in full lines in Fig. 1, and also affords a base for the sleeve-board when the latter is made separately for separate use. The sleeve-board 13 and its base or foot 15 are connected by a screw-bolt 16 (like bolts 7, Fig. 4f) and these parts are spaced by the spacing members 17, which are located on opposite sides of the said screw-bolt.
The numerals 18 and 19 designate coiled springs carried by the adjoining ends of the table top and the foot piece 15, and engaged therewith at 20. These springs are for supporting sad irons.
When the ironing table is not in use, the
sleeve-board may be folded, as shown in dotted lines in Fig. 1. rl`he ironing board, the box-frame supporting it, the legs and other parts can all be taken apart so that they may be compactly associated when the device is to be shipped.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. In a device of the class described, the combination with the ironing table and an ironing board supported thereover, of a sleeve-board hingedto and adapted to fold on top of the ironing board which is provided with a base or foot piece connected thereto and spaced therefrom adapted to engage the ironing table when the sleeveboard is in extended position.
2. In a device of the class described, the combination with the ironing table and an ironing board supported thereover, of a sleeve-board hinged to and adapted to fold on top of the ironing board which is provided with a part adapted to abut the ironing table when the sleeve-board is in extended position, and coil springs respectively In testimony whereof, I hereunto affix my carried by the ironing table and the part of signature in presence of two Witnesses. the sleeve board which is adapted to abut the same, as aforesaid, said coil s rings be- ANDREW J FOSTER' 5 ing so disposed that they Will joint y lserve-as Witnesses:
a sad iron support when t-he sleeve board is ANNIE JOYNER,
