HEATING-DRUM.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Sept. 3, 1912.
Application filed November 14, 1910. Serial No. 592,256.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES F. PETERSON, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Heating- Drums, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in heating drums, and has for an object to provide a heating drum for gas or oil stoves which will throw out a continual stream of heat in all directions.
Another object is to provide a drum that will draw in cold air at the bottom thereof and heat it with the products of combustion over the stove, then throw it 011' as heated air.
With these and other objects, which will later be more fully described in view, I have constructed the drum illustrated in the accompanying drawings in which,
Figure 1 is a side elevation of a drum seated over a stove, and taken partly in section, Fig. 2 is a bottom view of the drum.
Like reference characters refer to like parts throughout the several views of the drawings and in the specification,in Which I is a sheet metal cylinder having walls of sinuous vertical section forming an inner cylinder 4 and laterally extending circumferential chambers 2, all of said chambers being provided with openings 3. These openings are placed at convenient intervals around the periphery of the chambers 2. The bottom of the drum is provided with a cap or hood 5, having a downwardly extending flange 6 which is adapted to seat over a burner 7, in such a manner that all the products of combustion will mingle with the air which is drawn into side openings 8, heated, and then forced out through the openings 3. The top of the drum 9 is provided with a handle 10.
This drum which has been put into actual use, has been found to be extremely efficient, heating a much larger space in a similar time than any other drum that has been tried.
I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent,
1. A heating drum consisting of a sheet metal cylinder having walls of sinuous vertical sections forming an inner cylindrical chamber and laterally extending annular chambers in communication therewith.
2. A heating drum consisting of a sheet metal cylinder having walls of sinuous vertical sections forming an inner cylindrical chamber and laterally extending annular chambers in communication therewith, said annular chambers being provided with gas outlet holes.
3. A heating drum consisting of a sheet metal cylinder having walls of sinuous vertical sections forming an inner cylindrical chamber and laterally extending annular chambers in communication therewith, said annular chambers being provided with gas outlet holes on their outer peripheries.
In testimony whereof I atfix my signature, in presence of two witnesses.
