MILKING-STOOL.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Sept. 3, 1912.
Application filed October 12, 1911. Serial No. 654,371.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, SAMUEL EVENSEN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Capron, in the county of Boone and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Milking-Stools, of which the following is a specification.
The object of this invention is to construct a milking stool in which a support is formed for the pail, and the support made vertically adjustable to locate the pail with respect to the udder of the cow.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a plan view. Fig. 2 is a section on the line a-a Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a plan view with the seat removed. Fig. 4 is a side elevation. Fig. 5 is an end View.
The stool comprises the seat 1, the legs 2 and the end 3 formed with feet 4:. The end 3 has an opening 5 across which is located a cross-bar 6. To the end 3 is pivoted one end of a support 7, and the support extends beyond the edge of the seat and is guided against lateral movement by being located between the legs 2. An adjusting bar 8 has one end hinged to the support 7 and its other endsupports a serrated plate 9 adapted to engage the cross-bar 6. serrated plate is formed with a depending projection 10, which engages the cross-bar One end of this i 6 and holds the support in substantially a horizontal position. The edge of the seat 1 is formed with a curved recess 11. The support is adjusted to locate the pail 12 with respect to the udder of the cow, and the pail rests in the recess 11. By this construction of milking stool, the pail is held independently of the knees of the milker.
I claim as my invention.
A milking stool, comprising a seat member having a rear leg and spaced front legs, a pail support pivoted to the rear leg in spaced relation to and below the seat member and projecting between the front legs and beyond the seat member, and a link pivoted to the pail support in rear of its projecting end, said link being located be tween the pail support and seat member and having an adjustable rack engagement with the rear leg for holding the said support at different elevations, the rear portion of the link projecting beyond the rear leg and forming operating means for the link.
In testimony whereof'I have hereunto set my hand in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
SAMUEL EVENSEN. IVitnesses A. O. BEI-IEL, W. L. DORR.
