Bnnonin: a citizen ofthe United States of Amer1ca,g residing at Mount "Clemens, 1n the countyy of Macomb' and` State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Road-Scrapers, of,l which the following is a s'pecication, reference being@ had Atherein to the accompanying drawings, This invention relates to improvements 1nI road scrapers especially 'adapted for scrap-.- ing and leveling'the surface ofthe road and; its object is to provide a construction whichF is such that vthe rough and uneven surface of the road is cut away-by a' scraper and the dirt thus scraped and loosened from thej surface is again distributed over the same surface and deposited in the depressions thus leaving a smooth even surface to the road-bed in going over the road but once with a scraper embodying this invention.

As shown in the drawing two runners 10, 10 are connected in spaced relation by transverse rods 11 and bracemembers 12 and 13. These runners are each preferably formed of planking without openings from end to end thereof so that the dirt which is scraped from the surface of the road-bed by the scraper 14 will be prevented from escaping laterally froml between thesevertical walls formed by the runners. The scraper 14 consists of a blade mounted in guides 15 upon the inner sides of the runners and extending diagonally across between therunners. This blade may be of any desired construction and form and is adjusted vertically in its guides by any suitable means such as screw-threaded rods 16 having hand wheels 17 upon their upper ends and en- Y mitted when it passes along the inclined or diagonal side of the blade .to the yrearmost end 'the-reef, to pass through said opening 2O to the rea-r side of the blade. In this construction all of the dirt which is scraped from the surface by the scraper' blade is held by the runners fr'om escaping laterally and is then distributed overthe surfaces between the runners to fill in the depression in the road surface by the levelingbar. Obviously, changes in the construction "and arrangement of parts may be made without-departing from the spirit of my invention and I therefore do not wish to limit myself to the particular form and construction shown.
Having thus fully described my invention what 1 claim is Y 1.
