WILLAM" MACH, or TAEoE, SOUTH DAKOTA.
WELL-TILING- AND MOLD THEREFOR.
To all 'whom t may 'concer/n.'
Be it known that I, WILLIAM MACH, a citizen of the United States, residing at Tabor, in thecounty of Bonhomme, State of South Dakota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Well-Filing and Molds Therefor; and I do hereby ded tioning of the sections one upon the other.
With the above and other objects in view, the invention consists in the details of construction and in the arrangement and combination of parts to be hereinafter `more fully described and particularly pointed out in the appended claims.
In describing t-he invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters of reference denote corresponding `parts in the several views, and in which- Figure 1 is a view in elevation of a mold utilized to construct the sections of the tiling, Fig. 2, a vertical section of the mold illustrated in Fig. 1, Fig. 3, a section on the line 3-*3 of Fig. 1, Fig. 4, a view in elevation of the inner side section of the mold, same being partly broken away, Fig. 5, a vertical section through one of the tile sections produced by the mold, Fig. 6, a section on the line 6-6 of Fig. 5, Fig. 7, a view showing the manner of applying the tile sections to a well, said tile sections being shown in vertical sections, and Fig. 8, a section on the line 8 8 of Fig. 7 on an enlarged scale,
Referring to the drawings the mold is shown as comprising a bottom 10 having a central dished portion 11, said dished portion having a circular outline. Formed in the bottom of the dished portion 11 is a circular groove 12, while another circular groove 13 is formed 'in the upper face of the Specification of Letters Patent.

bodyjust `outward of the dished portion 11 and disposed concentrically with the groove 12. These grooves 12 and 13 form seats respectively for inner and outer side sections 14 and 15 respectively of the mold. The inner' side section 14 is constructed of a thin sheet of metal of sutlicientpliability to permit same to be contracted from its normal position for the purpose of removing' same after t-he molding of the tile sec-` tion has been completed. Then the inner side sect-ion 14 is seated .in the groove 12 the ends of said section are secured together by means of suitable catches 16. The outer side section `15 is also constructed of a thin sheet of metal of suiiicient pliability to permit the ends thereof to be moved away from each other a suiiicient distance to allow for the removal of said `side sect-ion from the completed tile section. This outer sid-e section 15- has pressed in its inner face at the top and=bottom thereof respectively circum- `scribing grooves 17- and 18. Formed in the side section 15 in the plane of the groove 17 is a plurality of openings l19. These openings 19 at the top and bottom respectively of `the outer side-sections are arranged in vertically alined pairs with the vertical plane of the other pair. y The outer side `sect-ion l5 is further provided with a. plurality yof openings 20 in the plane of the groove 18 and are disposed in a manner similar to the openings 19. Surrounding each of the openings 19 is an inwardly directed iiange 21, while similar inwardly directed flanges 22 surround each of the openings 20. The ends of the sections 15 are detachably secured together by means of suitable catches 23.
Hinged to the upper end of the section 15 is the top member of the mold 24. This top member is provided centrally with a boss 25 l of a shape that would permit same to snugly been reviously operated to locking position. he material for the tile section, indisection so as to readily receive in an inter- .y
ittingmanner the lower end of an adjacent section. While the material of the tile sec-k tion 29 is in a plastic state staples 30 are inserted through the' openings 19 and 2() into the plastic material so that the outermost portion of said staples will be posi-V tioned in registration substantially with the innermost portions of respective grooves 17 and 18, After the material from which the tile section is made has solidified the catches 16 and 23 are released and the sections 14 and 15 removed from the completed tile section, as is likewise the bottom 10. Y
In applying the tile sections to the bore of a' Well suitable guide Wires 31 are passed through alining staples 30 of the bottom sections and then positively secured to the latter at its lower end. The section of the tile is then lowered toits seat upon the bottom vof the well` The guide wires 31 are then passed through alining staples 30 of the next tile section and the latter then lowered under the guidance of said wires 31 to its proper position upon the tile section grooves 17 and 18 the tile sections will be` formed, with circumsoribing ribs 32 which serve to protect the staples 30 from engagement with the wall of the well during the y lowering of the tile section.
What is claimed isz' ,l
l., A Welltile mold comprising a bottom provided with concentrically arranged vcircular grooves, longitudinally split inner and outer cylindrical side sections removably seated in said grooves respectively, locking means for 'detachably securing the longitudinal edges of said side sections together, said outer side section having continuous circular grooves formed in its inner face adjacent its top and bottom respectivelyk and openings therethrough in the planes of' respective grooves, the openings at the upper ends of said outer side section alining with corresponding openings at the lower ends thereof respectively, and a top member for said mold hinged to said outer side section.
2. A well tile vmold comprising a bottom provided with concentric-ally arranged 'circular grooves, longitudinally split inner and outer cylindrical side sections removably seated in said grooves respectively, locking means for detachably securing the longitudinal edges of said side sections together, said outer side sec-tion having continuous circular grooves formed in its inner face adjacent its top and bottom respectively and `further openings therethrough in the planes of said grooves respectively, the openings at the upper ends of said outer side sections alining with corresponding openings at the lower ends thereof respectively, inwardly directed flanges surrounding each of said openings, and a top member for said mold hinged to said outer side section.
In testimony whereof, I ailix my signa- ;ture, in presence of two witnesses.
WILLIAM MACH.
