To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE C. LASARES, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Springfield, in the county of Hampden and State of Massachusetts, have invented new and useful Improvements in Toys, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a novel apparatus to be used as a toy in connection with a gun or any device for throwing a missile.
The main features of the apparatus are disclosed in the accompanying drawing, in which Figure 1 is a front view of the apparatus, incl} Fig. 2 is a side view thereof, all assem- The object of the invention is to supply a novel and amusing toy.
' The apparatus is constructed with a base and upright supporting portion a. Mounted on the upright portion are blocks b and 0 in which is mounted a fixed guide rod d on which a block a is arranged to slide. This block is normally in engagement with the block b and carries the cut-out figure of a tramp, as indicated in the drawings. In the .upper end, of the upright portion is a hole f, through which passes a cord or string 7 which has one end attached to a weight, and the other end to the block e.
Pivot-ally mounted on the block b is a hooked rod h which hooks into an eye in the lower end of the block 6 and normally holds said block from rising up the guide (1 due to the weight at the end of the cord 9 which is heavier than the block 6. A target 2', as shown, is mounted on the rod 72. at the end opposite the hooked end. This target is backed by a suitable block so arranged that the center of gravity is considerably below the pivot point of the rod. This fact insures the tripping of the block 6 whenever the target 2 is hit by a missile.
The target may be provided with holes back of which bells may be arranged to sound when hit.
The operation is as follows: A toy gun or bean blower, or other suitable apparatus, is pointed at the target and a missile sent thereby against the target- The force of the missile trips the block e which is carried, together with the figure of the tramp, up to the block 0 by means of the cord 9, and the attached weight. The figure of the tramp at the top of the guide is a sure indication that the shot has successfully hit the target. 7
What I claim, is v A base, an upright having two blocks mounted thereon, a guide-rod arranged between said blocks, a slidable block carrying the representation of a tramp adapted to slide on said guide-rod, between said two blocks, a cord, one end attached to said slidable block and passing through a hearing at the upper end of the upright wit-h a Weight attached to its other end, and a pivotally mounted target with means to hold the slidable block until the target is hit.
