and an inclined back, with a pivoted bell tapper supported at the top of the front frame and a bell supported several inches behind the tapper, together with a combined pivotally supported ball receiving cup and captive ball support, and a ball return chute below the game apparatus sloping towards the front of the game apparatus.

A still further object of the invention is to provide a highly amusing game which will require a high degree of skill to play, and which will be relatively inexpensive to manufacture and produce.

In the accompanying drawings which form a part of this application,

Figure 1 is a front elevation of the improved game apparatus;

Figure 2 is a side elevation of the game apparatus;

Figure 3 is a rear view of the game apparatus;

Figure 4 is a perspective view of the bell tapper and its hinge support, and

Figure 5 is a perspective view of one of the bell guard members.

Like characters of reference are used throughout the following specication and the accompanying drawings to designate corresponding parts.

In carrying out the invention, there is provided a substantially rectangular frame comprising spaced front legs I and spaced back legs 2 of somewhat lesser height. Cross braces 3 are connected between said legs and provide shelves when boards are placed thereon.

A bell tapper II having a shank 5 is secured to the hinge 6 which is fastened to the top frame member 'I of the front frame 8. The bracket 9 is secured to the top of the member 'I and extends backwardly therefrom several inches and is bent downwardly to support the bell or gong IEI.

The top II of the housing slopes rearwardly from front to back and is transversely slotted at i2 to permit the bell I0 to extend therethrough.

A combined flap door I2 and ball receiving cup I3 is pivoted on the cross pin I4 with the cup extending below the bell I0, and the flap door is formed with an angled ball supporting terminal iinger I5 between which and the top I I, a captive ball I6 is adapted to be supported.

An opening II is formed through the lower portion of the top II, to permit the captive ball IS when released, to drop therethrough and into the forwardly inclined ball return chute I8 which extends forwardly of the supporting frame a short distance. A guard plate I9 is secured to the rear of the housing directly behind the opening II to direct the captive ball forwardly through said opening if it is struck by the captive ball.

Apertures 20 will be formed through the top i I at either side of the ap door I2.

Angled guard ngers 2 I will be secured at either side of the front frame 8 to extend in front of the bell I il, so that when a ball 22 is tossed at the tapper 4, should it miss the tapper, it will not strike the bell.

The size of the captive ball will be approximately 1321 inches in diameter, while the playing ball 22 is approximately 2% inches in diameter.

The game is played by each player tossing a predetermined number of balls at the bell tapper, and varying scores may be made depending upon what objects the playing ball strikes.

While the preferred embodiment of the instant invention has been illustrated and described, it will be understood that it is not intended to limit the scope of the invention thereto, as many minor changes in detail of construction may be resorted to Without departing from the spirit of the invention.

Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is:

l. A game consisting of'a supporting frame, a downwardly inclined back member on said frame, a bell, bracket means for supporting said bell at the top of said supporting frame, a target hingedly attached to the top of said frame and disposed immediately in front and within striking distance of said bell, a second target means pivotally attached to said sloping back member for releasably supporting a captive ball on the inclined back member, and a chute for retrieving both thrown and captive balls.

2. A game consisting of a supporting frame, a downwardly inclined back member on said frame, a bell, bracket means for supporting said bell at the top of said supporting frame, a target hingedly attached to the top of said frame and disposed immediately in front and within striking distance of said bell, a bellcrank carried by said inclined back member including diverging leg portions,
