INVENTOR LESTer- I Kaehne United States Patent M This invention relates to competitive and participation games, and more particularly to a game utilizing a ball for scoring.

It is therefore the main purpose of this invention to provide a game which will have a box with a pair of compartments, each being capable of receiving a ball which is kicked.

Another object of this invention is to provide a game which will have sound producing means within the compartments of the box which is to receive the ball after it is kicked.

Still another object of this invention is to provide a game which will have net means to prevent the ball from extending its path of travel beyond the location of the box at low levels.

Other objects and advantages of the invention will become apparent from a consideration of the following detailed description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing wherein a satisfactory embodiment of the invention is shown. However, it is to be understood that the invention is not limited to the details disclosed but includes all such variations and modifications as fall within the spirit of the invention and the scope of the appended claims.

According to this invention, game is provided with a ball target comprising an elongated hollow box or like ball receiving member 11. An intermediate wall 12 divides box 11 into first and second scoring areas conprising the compartments 13 and 14, which are provided with an opening 15 and an opening 16 respectively which will freely receive a plastic 'ball 17. First and second resilient flaps 18 and 18A are mounted within compartments 13 and 14, respectively. Each flap is secured to spring steel which engages the wall 12. A ball 20 secured to the flap 18 strikes a score indicating means comprising a sound producing member 21 when ball 17 is received within the openings 15. Similarly, a member 20A mounted on plate 18A strikes a sound producing member 21A when the ball 17 enters the opening 16. A rectangular base 22 is provided with a concave recess 23 which seats plastic ball 17 in order that it may be positioned to kick it toward box 11. A net 25 is secured to the rear and upper extremity of box 11 and provides a back stop for plastic ball 17. The backstop catapults a ball impinging thereon outwardly toward the compartments 13 and 14, introducing an element of competitive skill to be attained by players of the game in kicking the ball so that it will be deposited in a particular compartment.

As shown in FIG. 1, a ball received in compartment 13 will be projected toward compartment 14 by flap 18, while a ball impinging on fiat 184 in compartment 14 will be projected so as not to enter compartment 13.

I claim:

1. A ball game comprising:

a pocketed ball target including a ball receiving member having a base with upstanding side walls and end walls;

at least one dividing wall extending transversely of said ball receiving member and forming at least a first scoring area and a second scoring area therein;

first resilient flap means, mounted within said first scoring area, for deflecting a ball impinging thereon into said second scoring area;

second resilient flap means mounted within said second scoring area in a manner precluding a ball impinging thereon from being deflected into said first scoring area;

and first and second score indicating means, actuated by said first and second resilient fiap means, respectively.

2. A ball game according to claim 1 in which each of said score indicating means comprises an individual sound producing device disposed within the scoring area containing the associated resilient flap means.

3. A ball game according to claim 1 and further comprising a net back stop disposed behind and above said ball receiving member in position to deflect a ball impinging upon said back stop into one of said scoring areas.

4. A ball game according to claim 3 in which the side walls of said ball receiving member slope downwardly away from said net back stop and in which said ball receiving member includes only two scoring areas.

Claims (1)

1. A BALL GAME COMPRISING: A POCKETED BALL TARGET INCLUDING A BALL RECEIVING MEMBER HAVING A BASE WITH UPSTANDING SIDE WALLS AND END WALLS; AT LEAST ONE DIVIDING WALL EXTENDING TRANSVERSELY OF SAID BALL RECEIVING MEMBER AND FORMING AT LEAST A FIRST SCORING AREA AND A SECOND AREA THEREIN; FIRST RESILIENT FLAP MEANS, MOUNTED WITHIN SAID FIRST SCORING AREA, FOR DEFLECTING A BALL IMPINGING THEREON INTO SAID SECOND SCORING AREA; SECOND RESILIENT FLAP MEANS MOUNTED WITHIN SAID SECOND SCORING AREA IN A MANNER PRECLUDING A BALL IMPINGING THEREON FROM BEING DEFLECTED INTO SAID FIRST SCORING AREA; AND FIRST AND SECOND SCORE INDICATING MEANS, ACTUATED BY SAID FIRST AND SECOND RESILIENT FLAP MEANS, RESPECTIVELY.
