Be it known that l, CHARLES J. NASH, aV citizen of the United States, and resident of Chicago, county of Cook, and State of Ill-i-` nois, have invented certain new and useful im rovements in Draft-Gears, of which the fol owing is a specification, and which are illustrated in the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof.
The invent-ion relates to an improvement in the draft gear which forms the subject of my pending application for Letters Patent Serial No. 664,461, its vobject being to provide an improved form of spacing an retaining plate used in connection with twin spring gears.
As pointed out in the application referred to, the retaining plate is necessarily wrought to its service form in part after the gear is assembled, by bending some of its leaves. The assembling is usually ydone in yards where it is not convenient to heat the parts to be bent, and the purpose of the present in vention is to provide a form of plate which, while lhaving ample body to properly space the springs,`is provided with leaves which, because of their form and relative disposition, may be readily bent as required, without.. 'being heated.

. The springs are spaced apart by means of the spacin' and retaining plate lshown in detail in Fig. 1.
