To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, JOHN A: MANSON, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city of New York, borough of Manhattan, in the county and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved the figures, and in wh1ch- Figure 1 is a front elevation of a preferred embodiment of my invention; Fig. 2 is a longitudinal sectional view through the top of the device shown in Fig. 1, and

taken on the line 22 of Fig. 1; and Fig. 3.

I have shown a bracket A more particularly forming the subject-matter of my invention, upon which is pivot-ally mounted a removable card holder B, upon which is mounted the display or price card C, as is usual with devices of this character. The bracket A is suitably attached to the wall or other support by means of screws D, and has its upper and lower ends outturned to form a perforated upper ledge E and a perforated lower ledge F, alined pairs of erforations G adapted t-otake pins H proecting from the upper and lower edges of the holder B.

My invention particularly relates to the means for locking the card holder removably in position on the bracket A, and as is usual with devices of this character, the holder B is raised until the lower pin can escape from the lower erforation G. In this instance the upward movement of the pin H is prevented by means of a stop plate 4 extending parallel to the upper ledge E and in its lowered or normal position is disposed a short distance above the pinH, so as not to interfere with the working of the pin, and yet, at the same time, will prevent the withdrawal of the lower pin" from the lower plate F. The plate 4. may be raised into the position shown in dotted lines in Fig.1, a distance sufficient to permit the withdrawal of the lower pin and the subsequent removal of the holder B. One means for maintaining the plate 4: in either its raised or lowered position is to extend downwardly from the plate and preferably integral therewith, an arm 5, which arm preferably slides through an opening 6 in the.

plate E and along the upper portion of the front of the bracket A. The arm 5 has extending therethrough a U-shaped slot 7 consisting of an elongated longitudinal portion 8 and upper and lower horizontally disposed extensions 9, 9 extending in the same direction from the longitudinal ort-ion 8. Extending from the face of the racket A is a pin 10 projecting through the slot 7.

Bearing upon the side of the arm 5 having the extensions 9, is one end of a flat sprin 11, the opposite end of which is suitably fastened to the bracket A, and-as shown in the drawings, is threaded through a pair of transversely spaced apertures in the ugper ledge E. It will be seen that the ten ency of this spring is to maintain the pin 10 in one of the transversely-disposed extensions 9 of the slot 7. In order to raise or lower the plate 4, pressure is brought to bear on the side opposite the sprin 11, swinging the plate into the position s own in the inclined dotted lines in Fig. 1, thereby bringing the pin into the elongated portion 8 of the slot 7, permitting the plate 4 to be raised into the dotted position shown at the top of Fig. 1 to permit the insertion or withdrawal of one or all of the plate holders B, after which the plate may be returned to its normal locking position.

Having thus described myinvention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent:

1. A bracket having upper and lower outturned, perforated ledges, a stop plate disposed above said upper ledge and movable relative thereto, an arm attached to said late and slidable on said bracket, said arm iaving a U-shaped slot therein, a pin carried by the bracket and extending through said slot, a spring maintaining said plate with the pin in one of the legs of the U- shaped slot to lock the plate on the bracket, and a holder pivoted in certain perforations of said le'dges and adapted to be prevented from removal therefrom while said stop plate is locked in normal position.

2. A bracket having spaced upper and lower perforated ledges extendin therefrom in the same direction, the peritorations in said ledges adapted to contain the u er and the lower pivoting pins of a card ho (liar. a locking plate disposed slightly above said upper pin, a pin-and-slot connection between the bracket and the plate permit-ting the raising of said plate a distance sufficient to permit the removal of the lower pin from the lower ledge, and a spring cooperating with said locking plate to maintain the same in either its lowered or raised position.
