FRANK W. DRISH, OF SULLIVAN, ILLINOIS, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF 10 JOI-IN R. POGUE, 0F SULLIVAN, ILLINOIS.
LACE-ROD BRACKET.
PatentedAug. 13, 1912.
Serial No. 610,780.
To all whom t may concern Be it known that I,'FRANK WV. DnIsI-I, residing at Sullivan, in the county of Moultrie, in the State of Illinois, have invented a new and Improved Lace-Rod Bracket, of which the following is a speciiication.
My invention has relation to curtain and shade fixtures and has for its object to provide a simple, neat and inexpensive bracket for supporting the curtain rod or pole, that can be readily applied to the ordinary window shade or blind hanger in such manner that all the nailing and marrng of the window casing is done away with.
My invention comprises generally a metal bracket formed of a single piece of metal bent to shape for supporting one or more lace rods, and into a combined clamp and hook member slidable up on the ordinary blind hanger and connectible therewith without disturbing the position of the hanger already fastened to its operative position.
In its more subordinate featu'res my invention consists of 'a lace rod bracket embodying the peculiar construction and arrangement of parts all of which will be hereafter fully explained, specifically pointed out in the appended claims, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings in which:
Figure 1, is a perspective view that illustrates my invention as in use. Fig. 2, is a perspective view of one of my lace rod brackets and .shows the manner in which it is applied to the ordinary forms of shade hangers. Fig. 8, is a view of the pole holder applied to the hanger. Fig. 4, is a view of a slightly modified form of my invention.
My improved curtain pole holder or bracket is bent up to form the desired shape from a single piece of metal, preferably stout spring wireV and the same comprises the vertical or back member l the lower end of which is bent back upon itself to form a reinforced bearing portion 10, thence bent into a U shaped loop that is bent down in a plane parallel with the portion 10 to form a spring clamp 11, the formed member 11L of which merges with a downwardly extended portion 12 bent back upon itself to form a second bearing portion 10, which with the portions 10 and the U shaped clamp l1, forms a combined supporting and clampin foot for the bracket, for slipping over anc interlocking with the outwardly extended flat arm 2l1 of the common type of shade hanger bracket 2, which as shown, has a bulged portion surrounding the roller pintle receiving aperture and an apertured right angle portion for seating against the casing. From the bearing 10El the wire strand is extended forwardly and upwardly as at 18 and thence outwardly to form the front end of the bracket and thence it is bent to form a U shaped hanger 14 for supporting the pole w and from which the wire extends horizontally inwardly and terminates in a hook 15 for interlocking with the hook 16 in the upper end of the back member 1.
In Fig. 4 the shape of the bracket diers from the form shown in Figs. 1 to 3, in that the wire strand extends horizontally forwardly from the bottom of the bearing portion 10a to form a hanger 17 for holding a second pole w.
From the foregoing taken in connection with the accompanying drawing the construction, the manner and use of my invention will be readily apparent. Among the advantages it should be mentioned that the same can be easily slipped upon and clamped to the ordinary fiat arm 2l1 of the bracket shade hanger and thus save all nailing and marring of the window casing. It can be quickly adjusted and since the bearing members 10-10 extend below the U shaped clamp loop 11 a solid foot-ing for the bracket is provided, and by reason of the said clamp loop 11 iitting between the bulged part and the angle member of the bracket 2 the said bracket 1 is also held from laterally slipping upon the said Hat arm 23 of the bracket 2.
Having thus described my invention what I claim is:
A curtain pole holder formed of a single strand of Wire, bent to form a Vertical back the rear end of the curtain pole seat member member7 a goot port-ion that includes a hook being secured together.
shaped pen ent clamv adapted for slipping over `and clamping tbe extended flat arm of FRANK W' DRISH a shade hanger bracket, the front end being Witnesses:
bent to form a seat for the curtain pole, the E. E. WRIGHT,
upper end of the Vert-ical back member and l S. E. CREECH.
