Description

J. KOENIG.
SPOUTED VESSEL.
APPLICATION FILED JAN. 27, 1912.
Patentd July 16, 1912.
ENT OFFTCE.
JOSEPH KOENIG, OF TWO RIVERS, WISCONSIN.
SPOUTED VESSEL.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented July 16, 1912.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Josnrn Konnrc, a citizen of the United States, and resident of Two Rivers, in the county of Manitowoc and State of WVisconsin, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Spouted Vessels; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof.
My invention consists in what is herein particularly set forth with reference to the accompanying drawings and pointed out in the claims of this specification, its object being to provide for a simple, economical anti-leak attachment of spouts to culinary and other vessels without showing rivetheads externally of the same.
Figure 1 of the drawings represents a side elevation of a vessel partly in section having its spout attached thereto in accordance with my invention; Fig. 2, a front elevation of a fragment of the vessel having the spout thereof in section, as indicated by line 2-2 in Fig. 1, the spout securing device in this view being partly broken away; Fig. 3, a detail horizontal section indicated by line 3-3 in said Fig. 1; Fig. 4, a perspective view of said spout securing device, and Fig. 5, a sectional view of a fragmentof a tea-kettle or teapot having its spout attached to the wall thereof in accordance with my invention.
Referring by numerals to the drawings, 5 indicates the body, and 6 the spout of a vessel. The wall of the vessel is provided with the usual opening or a series of perforations in register with the spout, and a depression 7 is formed in the vessel-wall for the engagement of a flange 8 of said spout. The spout-flange and the vessel-wall depression are provided with registering apertures for the engagement of a series of pins 9 projecting from a bow-like bar 10 that laps said spout flange upon which it is drawn tight by upsetting the inner ends of the pins against said vessel-wall depression, said bar being a clamping device. The pins are swaged in openings provided for the same in the bar, and in consequence thereof, no rivet-heads appear externally of the vessel when the operation of attaching the spout to the vessel-wall is completed, the union being leak-tight and readily accomplished.
The aforesaid depression in the vesselwall is not absolutely essential to the success of my invention, but by employing the same provision is had for a neater external appearance of the vessel than would be otherwise the case.
I claim:
1. A vessel, a flanged spout for the same, a clamping device lapping the spoutflange, and pins extending from said device through said flange and the vessel-wall against which wall their inner ends are upset.
2. A vessel having a wall depression, a spout having a flange engaging said depression, a flange-lapping clamping device, and pins extending from said clamping device through said flange and the vessel wall against which wall their inner ends are upset.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand at Two Rivers in the county of Manitowoc and State of \Visconsin in thepresence of two witnesses.
JOSEPH KOENIG.
