the' other on the top edge, forming a double brace.

I The inclined braces -B B are fastened to the ground sill by their lower ends being insertedin the mortises on the sill and` a notch made-in thebrace, when a piece,`D,.is nailed across the end of the sill in the notch, asseen in fig. 2, making it fast.` The sill may bc staked at each end, to `make thc fence more secure.

The panels `of the fence' are made of horizontal boards, EE, connectedat their ends` by vertical bars l G G, and supported `in the middle by theI sill A and `inoiinedlnjaces BB, two of the horizontal boards itting inthe notched"cross-braces (J C.
