Be it known that .I, WALTER E. BUCK- mcrmwn'a citizen of .theUnited States, re-
' siding at Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented new 'and usefiil Improvements in Junction Memhere for Steel Sh eel-Piling, of which the following is a speci-fitr'ation.
My invention relates to an 1 junction member adapted for use with metal sheet piling to make connection between two or more adjacent pile sections in case of corners and transverse or intersecting walls.
This peculiar member may be easily rolled, "complete in one piece, from the steel bloom, and consists of two or more inter locking elements radiating from a common center and arranged as near together as possible consistent with sufiicient space for the cooperating elements on the ad acent pile sections. As the said interlocking ele-- ments are set close together, without the interposition of a sustaining and separating web, the member in question is light in weight, simple and economical to manufac-' ture, convenient to transport and to handle, and convenient and economical to drive. Whileit is perhaps not quite so rigid'under.

Figure 1 is an isometric view showing ,my interlocking member of four way construction used to connect an intersecting wall of steel sheet piling of the .Lacka-' wanna type'to a main wall. The other figures show in plan various forms of'my invention. Fig. 2 shows the same form of member as in Fig. 1 with four radiating ntegral rolled 'walls indicated. Fig. 3. shows a three-way member, and Fig. 4:, a two-way member or corner piece. Fig. ,5 shows a slight modification-in the form of the member of Fig. 4.
In all the foregoing figures the junction piece is formed to be used with Lackawanna 'piling but I do not wish to-be limited-thereto, for it may be shaped for use with various other standard types of piling. For instance in Figs. 6 and 7 junction pieces are shown ada ted to the well known United States piling, being respectively a corner piece and a four-way member. In Fig. 7 as in Fig. 3, the interlocking elements are shown, cut away, leaving a space or pocket at the point of interlock to promote easy driving, to permit the introduction, or" entrance, of filling material etc.
In the figures, A indicates the junction member and B the usual pile sections to be connected thereby. Such pile sections are .made as indicated of various forms and consist of a web and of interlocking elements along the web edges.
Little further description is necessary,
in addition to the drawing-and what has heretofore been said, fully to understand my invention.

may be as many as desired, and. I have shown three or tour, which is probably the limit, forit would be neither practical, nor desirable, to provide the member with more elements-than four. Each interlocking element operates as a stiffening flange to render more rigid the entire member.-
In Fig. 4 there is interposed, between the two interlocking members 1, 1, a peculiar flange 3 which engages with the exterior of the hooks on the pile sections to. brace them radiating from a commoncenter 2. There piece provided with the shoulder 6 which stiffens the member and makes the joint more firm. These cornerpieces are particularly simple and easy to roll.
In all the forms except that of Fig. 3, the interlocking elements extend substantially at 90 to each other.
It Will be understood that what I here describe as my invention is a junction piece having interlocking elements set adjacent and radiating from a common center, without superfluous metal, and preferably this piece is rolled integral, but it may be otherwise made, even fabricated if desirable, and the interlocking elements maybe of any desirable form, complementary to the elements on the adjacent piling with which they engage.
Having described my invention, I claim,
1. An integral, corner junction piece for interlocking metal piling having two interlocking elements connected to each other and arran ed at an angle of about 90. 2. in integral, rolled, corner, junction piece for interlocking metal piling having two interlocking elements arranged adjacent and radiating from a common center at an angle of about 90 to each other.
3. A corner junction piece for interlocking, metal piling, having in combination two ball-like interlocking elements'arranged at an. acute angle to each other to engage with socket-like elements on adjacent pile sections, and an integral flange extending outwardly in said angle to "engage with the exterior of the socket-like'elements.
4. An integral rolled corner junction piece for interlocking metal piling, having in combination two ball-like interlocking elements arranged adjacent and at an acute angle to each other to engage with socketlike elements on' adjacent pile "sections, a flange outwardly extending in said angle to engage with the exterior surface of said socket-like elements and a stiffening member opposite the flange, substantially as described and shown. 8. An integral rolled steel pile section to be used as a junction member between interlocking metal sections and comprising atleast three interlocking elements set adjacent to each other and radiating from common center, said elements extending equal distances from the center and uniformly spaced with reference to each other.
9. A junction member for interlocking metal piling consisting of a plurality of.
interlocking elements radiating from a common center, all said elements being of equal lengths.
10. An integral rolled junction piece for I interlocking metal piling consisting of a plurality of balllike interlocking elements set adjacent and adapted each to engage With a corresponding socket-like element on an \adjacent pile section, all of said elements being of equal lengths and extending equal distances from the common center.
'11. A webless interlocking pile section forming a junction member between adjacent sections, comprising a plurality of mterlocking ball-like elements set adjacent to each other and radiating from a common center.
